Author's Note: If this story is made into a fic one day, it will be my interpretation of Ash's journey through Alola if it were more like the Sun and Moon games.
Description of Idea: It was the final day of Ash and his mom's short trip to the Alola Region, and the mother and son pair enjoyed the Guardian's Festival in Iki Town on Melemele Island. While Della Ketchum was talking to the locals, learning about what life is like in the region, and trying the local cuisine, Ash and his partner, Pikachu, were invested in a battle between a trainer and the Island Kahuna, Hala. After witnessing this intense battle, the black-haired boy learned about the Island Challenge held in the Alola Region, which immediately caught Ash's attention since this challenge significantly differed from the gym challenges he had completed in other regions.
However, before the black-haired boy could try to approach the Island Kahuna to ask more about the Island Challenge and also challenge him to a battle, he caught the sight of a girl with long blond hair wearing a large white hat chasing a strange small Pokémon that he had never seen before on what the locals call Mahalo trail. With his curiosity about the identity of this mysterious Pokémon getting the better of him, Ash and Pikachu followed the blond-haired girl up the Mahalo trail until he soon saw the girl seemingly shaking in fear at something happening on a rope bridge.
Ash then approached the bridge to see what was going on, only for his eyes to widen in shock. He found the mysterious small Pokémon being surrounded and attacked by a flock of Spearow in the middle of the rope bridge.
"Please help, Nebby!?"
Ash then turned his head towards the blond-haired girl that he followed up the trail and saw that she was looking at him and asking him for help with pleading eyes. She wanted to help the poor Pokémon that the Spearow were attacking, but she seemed too afraid to take action herself. It took no time for Ash to decide to help the blond-haired girl out and save this strange Pokémon from the Spearow. Little did Ash know this decision would mark the beginning of the next chapter of his Pokémon journey.
A chapter that would introduce him to many new Pokémon and allow him to partake in many exhilarating battles. However, unbeknownst to Ash, this chapter of this journey would have many twists and turns that would affect not only how the black-haired boy would view the world of Pokémon as he knows it but also how he views himself.
