Chapter 5: Niko

( Next is Dawn, by the way, get ready for some Mia drama)

Niko sat in class, staring intently at the teacher as she explained the lesson. Suddenly, he felt something hit him in the back of his head. Turning around, he saw Kenric grinning at him with a crumpled-up piece of paper in his hand. Niko's expression turned from confusion to annoyance. He knew Kenric well enough to recognize that he was up to no good.

He snatched the paper out of Kenric's hand and opened it up, revealing the words, "Do you want to have a sleepover?" written in bold letters. Niko raised an eyebrow and sighed. "Okay, wait, will Dawn and Kayla come?" he asked Kenric. "I mean, yeah. Oh wait, no, they are going to Atlantis to get some new clothes or whatever," Kenric replied, shrugging his shoulders.

Niko sighed again. He didn't hate Kenric, but sometimes he couldn't stand his randomness. "Fine, my house or yours?" he asked Kenric. "Mine?" Kenric suggested. "Sure, whatever--" Before Niko could finish his sentence, the teacher interrupted them. "BOYS! PAY ATTENTION PLEASE!" she shouted, silencing the classroom.

Niko mumbled an apology to the teacher, knowing that he would get detention if he didn't. He couldn't help but feel a little frustrated, though.  As the teacher continued her lesson, Niko couldn't help but let his mind wander to a certain blonde-haired idiot. He thought about Kenric, and how he always seemed to bring a sense of adventure to everything they did. Despite his annoyance, Niko couldn't deny that he was looking forward to the sleepover, whenever it happened.

As Niko walked along the halls of Foxfire Academy, he was accompanied by his cousin Dawn and friends Kayla, and Kenric. They chatted excitedly, but Niko remained quiet, lost in his thoughts. Suddenly, Kenric interrupted his thoughts by calling him a nickname Niko despised. Niko whipped his head around and glared at Kenric, who quickly changed the topic and asked Niko about his next class.

Niko replied hesitantly, "I think I have Elvin History." Dawn's eyes lit up at the mention of this class and she exclaimed, "Oh, I have that too!" Niko let out a deep sigh, knowing that he would have to spend the entire class with his annoying cousin.

As Kenric was leaving, he turned around and looked Niko in the eyes, saying "Have fun, Neeks!" before running off. Niko shouted after him, wondering why he even liked this idiot in the first place. Despite his frustration, Niko continued to Elvin History, hoping it would at least be an interesting class.
