Chapter 1: Kenric

Enric woke up to the sound of Oralie screaming, "EVE! WHERE IS ELLA?!" She was shouting at her twin sister and waking up their older brother. "I don't know!" Oralie screamed back just as loudly. Kenric sighed and got out of bed, looking at his friends who were asleep on the floor. Kenric, Dawn, Kaya, and Niko were having a sleepover at their house, which they called Shinerise.

Kenric looked over at Dawn, who was watching videos on her phone. Kenric's mother had shown them a new elf version of a phone created by Dex Diznee, which was super cool and way more advanced than an imparter. "Dawn! Where is Niko?" Kenric asked, grabbing her attention. "He went to get some food or something," she replied. Just as she said that Niko entered the room holding a huge plate of mallowmelt.

"Are you going to eat all of that?" Kenric asked, and Niko stopped in his tracks and looked at him, scoffing, "Yeah, I am. Go get your own if you want some!" He then sat on Kenric's bed and wrapped a shadow blanket around himself, turned on his phone, and started reading a book. "That's my cousin for you!" Dawn said and turned back around. Kaya was the only one still asleep, even with Kenric's twin sisters screaming at the top of their lungs.

"KENRIC, ORALIE, AND EVERILIE! YOU HAVE TO GET READY FOR SCHOOL!" Kenric's mom shouted up the stairs. "Oh shoot! I have to get home! Bye, see you at school!" Niko said, grabbed his things, and ran out of Kenric's bedroom. "Oh! I have to go too! Bye, Ken, see ya!" Dawn shouted as she ran after her cousin.

"Kaya! You have to get up now!" Kenric said to Kaya, who was still asleep. "Ugh, fine! Bye, Kennie!" Kaya said and rolled onto her back, revealing her pierced belly button. She got up, put her pillow, book, and phone in her bag, and left. Even though they were going to light leap, they all left with only their pyjamas on.

Kenric got up, walked over to his closet, opened it, and picked out an outfit. He then got changed, did his hair, and went downstairs. His twin sisters were fighting over something or the other, like always. Sophie grabbed some bread, put some brown mush on it, and said, "Eat up! We've got to go!" She ran into the front room to get Oralie's bag.

"Kenric, did you do your homework?" Sophie asked as she re-entered the room. "Maybe?" Kenric answered. He had done half of it. "Kenric!" Sophie said, shaking her head. "You're just like your father!" Kenric's mom said. Kenric finished his breakfast and got up. He grabbed his bag and put on his shoes. Oralie and Everlie joined him after they finished.

"Have a great day at school! Don't get into too much trouble, Kenric!" Sophie said as she waved goodbye to her kids as they stepped into the light of the light-leaping machine.

Sophie paused for a moment and thought about how far her kids had come. She only had one concern: Fitz, who was now on the council, had said that the Neverseen may return. Not the same members, of course - they were dead. But a new group of elves. This worried Sophie. Was it true? Were the Neverseen going to return?
