6. STIGMA☠️

Evelyn's POV

"What?" He exclaimed in shock. He sprang to his feet pacing round the room.

"Dad what's going on?"

"Yeah, Thompson, is everything okay?" I added. My voice laced in worry.

"All is not fine. We need to leave this place right now!" He added frustrated. What's going on with him. He took his phone typing many things which just got me scared the more. After sometime an alert came to my phone, he just transferred seven hundred million USD. I looked at him in shock.

"Babe! Is everything okay? Talk to me please?" I cried.

"I got a pent house in your name. These are the keys, the documents are in my drawer. "He said with a cracking voice, he's just making me have a high blood pressure. He turned to Hailey who looked just as confused as I am.

"Hails, I'm very sorry, Evelyn I'm really sorry, take care of Hails cause she's all I've got " Just then a knock was heard on the door. Thompson went to the door and I was shocked to see him being handcuffed.

"Officers what's going on here?" I ask, hoping it wasn't what I was thinking.

"You can't just barge in and take my dad..... What's going on?" Hailey screamed at them as she ran after the door.

"Stay away kid! Your dad is a criminal" one of the officers explained to her.

" Daddy...."She cried.

"I'm sorry Hails"

"You promised me that you're gonna stay home for my birthday" She said in tears.

"I got you a gift in a box, it's in my drawer. Your dreamland is the password" He told her and we watched them lead him to their car. I just stood fixed at a point. I went over to console Hailey but she pushed me away and ran upstairs.

A month later

***HAILEY'S POV***

It was proven beyond all evidence that dad was guilty of all the pressed charges. He is a drug trafficker and a robber. Damnit! I was shocked. It was carried all over the news. My dad's only brother called to confirm if it was true.

My dad opened a company in uncle Kenechukwu's name. He probably knew things were going to turn out this way

Gawd this whole shit is damn crazy!

He sent some money to my account apart from the one he sent to Evelyn. He also got us a pent house because all our properties including our houses were confiscated, his account was frozen. He really acted fast because if he didn't we would have been reduced to abject penury. I'm still afraid and I hope they won't end up freezing Evelyn's account too due to the recent transfer since I heard investigations were ongoing.

How the hell did my life turn upside down overnight?

Just last week, Evelyn told me he was dead. Like how!!! An autopsy was carried out and after everything that happened it was concluded that be committed suicide. Like how!???

My father is strong and there was no way he would take his own life right? It was already enough that he was sentenced to a long term imprisonment and then he decided to just die and leave me alone in this world.

I've been down lately, coupled with the silent treatment I've been receiving in school. I've not spoken to Evelyn too, no one really loved me. My classmates and and friends all deserted me. They all claimed to love but now they have turned their backs on me. The crowd who once cherished me all seemed to have vanished and turned into my very own nightmare. They kept on calling me names, they'd say I'm the same as my father.
