...Hailey's POV...

"Hey mum" I greeted.

"You're not going to school?" She asked.

"I am. Just wanted to make sure you're okay before I prepare for school"

She smiled at me. God knows I'll do anything to make that smile last longer.

"You've not told me about your new school"

"It's pretty cool"

"Alright go prepare for school. I don't want you to be late"

"Alright!"

I walked to my room and dressed up, I wore a pencil jean gown this time. It's length is a above my knee slightly. God knows I will never be able to wear this if winter strikes.

I put on matching sneakers after which I strike a pose infront of the mirror. I gently brush my hair while forcing it straight.

"God why can't my hair be straight, huh!" I let out a frustrated sigh.

I will have to manage it like this cause strengthening it more means being late to school. I grab my sketchpad with my pencil in its place as usual.
I'll draw the first thing that catches my attention.

I ran down, guess Evelyn was done already. She looked at me amused.

"I don't look good?" I asked. I knew I'd look weird wearing a gown today. Too much for trying to be ladylike.

"You look perfect. Your hair is brown, did you dye it?"

"No. This is my hair colour. I usually dye it black. Is it that bad?"

"Not at all, I prefer it this way"

"You always say this to make me feel better."

"You're perfect just the way you are." She said with a smile.

"Awww! Thanks."

"Remove that thing on your ear."

"Firstly, it's not a thing. It's my baby and secondly, I love it that way. "

We argued about it for sometime until she gave up. She drove me to school after we've had breakfast. I waved at her while some idiots stared at me.

" Hi! Mira shouted and I flashed her a smile.

"Hey!" I replied. I noticed her green hoodie.

"I love your hoodie, it's cool even though I hate green." I said and she chuckled. We walked into the school together.

"Was that your mum?" She asked.

"Yeah."

"How come your skin is brown, I mean to say she's really very fair"

"I'm a Nigerian."

"I've not..... Wait! It's in Africa right?"

"Yeah. My mum's an Australian so I got my hair and eye colour from her."

"The woman I saw doesn't look like an Australian." She commented.

"She's my stepmom."

"Oh!" She muttered with an apologetic look. Why? Maybe she feels she went too far but it's really cool to have a sincere person you can talk to.

Just then a guy hugged her from behind and they ended up kissing. I thought hazel green was her.
I cleared my throat...

"I'm sorry for interrupting." She only smiled at me.
