And well, it was correct. Not about the hero part, but the part about his injuries, Harry was suffering from a mild concussion and broken wrist, which was casted and they gave him something for the pain.
The boy was now passed out, snoring like a chainsaw, but I wasn't too bothered by it.
My head was spinning and I wasn't sure if it was the alcohol that was slowly leaving my body or the fact that this was such a... interesting situation to be in.
Harry looked like a true angel as he slept, a bit pale and red eyes from tiredness, but he was still so damn beautiful.
I sighed and pulled up the covers, trying to get comfortable on the chair next to his bed. I couldn't leave him alone, I just couldn't... and besides, he had asked me to stay with him, and who was I to deny that request?
So there I was sitting, my mind filled with thoughts and sure as hell with a sore back tomorrow.
Eventually my eyes started to close, looking at the beautiful boy sleeping in the bed next to me, me wishing it was me laying next to him, but we will blame that on the alcohol...
—
"He's sleeping, so I'm gonna start my shift and I don't know, talk to him later? We exchanged phone numbers so.." I sounded hesitant as Liam and I stood in the doorway of the hospital room where Harry was sleeping peacefully.
Liam had been worried sick once he heard what had happened last night/early morning, but after some explaining he was calmed down and fine, still nagging me about working too much while I wasn't even working my shift yet.
"Won't it be weird to just leave now? I mean when he wakes up he might feel sad-"
"Liam I talked to him today when he woke up and it's fine, he probably won't even notice and I really gotta start working now, patients won't miraculously heal out of themselves now will they?"
I saw him roll his eyes and heard him sigh as I turned my back towards the room, feeling a ache in my heart as I did so.
"Let's go." I told him and started walking, Liam trailing behind a short while after.
Why was Liam so worried about what Harry will think? Is this really a cruel decision of me?
I shook off my thoughts and got into work mode, thinking about Harry a lot.
"Dr. Tomlinson? My patient wants to jump out of the window, what should I do?" I looked at Kelly, one of the new nurses with probably what could be described as a confused face.
"Open it so it will be easier." I answered, a poker face as I looked her straight in the eye.
I heard Liam trying to hold back his laugh next to me as she tried to walk away, nodding.
"Of course not Kelly! Prevent him from it, call psych and get a lock on that damn window!" She turned around and blushed as Liam couldn't hold back his laughter anymore.
"L-louis, why did y-you whaha-"
"Shut up Liam, this is really a weird ass hospital innit? Last week that lady with her cat who was stuck in a pumpkin and now this?" I couldn't help but crack a smile.
"The cat was sweet, though, and you did free the animal from the suffering."
"With the promise she wouldn't put her cat in anymore costumes, yes. Damn it it isn't halloween yet!"
Liam was now almost rolling around the floor, not even bothered by all the stares around him, the eyes glued to my back.
"Should I call psych on you as well?"
"I'm up, I'm up!" Boy I had never seen Liam jump up faster in my entire life, except the time I accidentally caught him and zee having sex.
Oh well...
We continued our routine, checking over patients, giving them the right medications and sorting out possible diagnoses.
Soon enough it was two in the morning and Liam and I were done for the night.
Harry was still on my mind, images of our drunk conversations playing on repeat.
We stepped outside, the cold breeze hitting me in the face and I wondered why I hadn't caught a cold yet, quickly praying I would escape that this year.
My head snapped up when I heard a all too well familiar voice, a voice I recognized because it was all I had heard yesterday and was on my mind all this time.
It was Harry's.
"Hi, Louis," he smiled, his hands in his pockets to prevent from freezing. His curls were covered by a beanie, some curls sticking out from the sides.
"Harry? What are you doing here? I mean I love to see you, but you should be laying in bed resting!" I exclaimed, taking some steps closer to him.
He shrugged. "You left without saying goodbye, and I wanted to thank you for yesterday, so I thought why not wait until your shift is over so I can take you home? You need to drive though, since well my wrist..." he sheepishly looked at his blue cast.
I couldn't help but smile. "It's alright, no need to thank me honestly." I then heard Liam clear his throat next to me.
"Oh and this is Liam, by the way, he's one of my friends, the one we saw at the bar yesterday? Not sure if you recognize him."
He nodded. "Ah of course, I was drunk but I vaguely remember him making out with Zayn?"
Liam chuckled. "That's my boyfriend, nice seeing you Harry, even though the circumstances aren't that great considering your arm."
Harry waved it off. "No problem, thanks for assisting Louis today, he told me about it."
We chatted some more before Liam decided to go home, missing Zayn and in desperate need of some sleep, understandable.
Harry's cheeks were pink, his nose a red color as I placed my hand on his lower back. "Shall we go?"
He relaxed into the touch and smiled, sniffing because of the cold, having a runny nose. "Sounds like a plan."
