"Did you find it?" I whispered. "Yeah, I got it. Let's head out." Willow whispered back. Willow hid the book inside her jacket as we made our way to the back door, which we had come from.
We slipped out and quietly closed the door with a soft *click*. Signaling that it was closed.
I stepped in front of the doorknob and relocked it from the outside. "Okay, we're good. Let's get out of here before the sun starts to come up." I stated.
Willow nodded and we climbed up to the roof where we had stashed our things.
I held my hand out for Willow and pulled her the rest of the way up. She stuck the book into her pack, zipping it shut.
"Ready to go?" She asked, pulling her backpack on and putting her sword and sheath back onto her belt. "Yup, got it all." I confirmed. Also putting my sword back into place.
We went from rooftop to rooftop, until we were above a convenience store. "Okay, so we need water, food, and a new lighter." I listed off.
"Yup. You get the food and water, I'll get the lighter and also grab some cash." Willow confirmed. "Sounds good. Let's go."
We put down our bags and went to the side of the roof, looking for a good spot to go down and also get back up.
We found a pipe that we could use to slide down, and it also had connectors close enough together that we could use for a ladder to get back up.
I slid down first, Willow right behind me. We landed silently on the ground and I pulled out the things I needed from my pocket to pick the lock.
After a few seconds, we heard the lock click open. We smiled at eachother and made our way into the store. Willow headed towards the register where all the lighters were, while I headed towards the fridge to grab drinks.
I stuck some bottles of water into the satchel that I had brought and moved on to the food.
I grabbed various things such as granola bars and sandwiches. I even grabbed a small bag of powdered donuts as a treat.
I made my way over to Willow, who was raiding the register for some cash. We don't take much, just enough so they don't notice, but still enough for us to get by on.
She nodded at me, signaling that we got enough and closed the register. We quickly went back to the door and left, and just like the last place, closing and relocking the door behind us. The two of us then climbed back up the pipe to grab our things.
Once we made it back up, we looked over all the things we had nicked and then put it all away in our bags. We hopped a few more roofs before climbing back down to the ground, just to make sure we aren't caught.
Once our feet hit the pavement, we dashed towards the woods. We passed the first line of trees before slowing down to a walk.
"Okay, let's check out this book and see what we can find." Willow said. I hummed in agreement.
We opened the book on greek mythology that we had found, flipping through it until we came across a page about my dad, Hades.
"Wait- stop. Go back one. There, Hades, god of the underworld." I pointed.
Willow and I skimmed the page, looking for useful information. We flipped through some of the pages that talked about Hades, with no luck in finding something useful.
"Hang on— look at this." Willow pointed. "Hades was said to have been able to summon spirts of the dead. Odysseus and two men also were able to summon spirits of the dead by sacrificing a pair of sheep at the river Styx. The spirits were able to remember their lives when they drank the blood from the sheep." She read.
