"I know you don't have the time. But please." Ash was pacing back and forth in a tiny space between floors on the emergency staircase of a hospital. "I don't have the time, too. She could die any minute." She hated the last words that came out from her own mouth. She felt like a beggar and she didn't like it.
Tears came down her cheeks one by one. The drops flowed rapidly as a picture of Lish laying motionless on a stretchers filled her mind. "So please, Chris. I only need half an hour." It drenched not only her face but also her throat, making her voice hoarse.
"No. You don't have to come to Indonesia. We'll meet halfway." Ash quickly erased the wetness with her dress' sleeve. She got what she wanted and needed to think faster for the next step. Her crying just got in the way.
______"How is it?" Dipta run towards Ash after placing Lish's hand gently. "Will he come?" He shot the question right away, even before Ash passed through the door frame.
"Yes, he will." She answered with eyes closed as some familiar mixed feeling invoked her migraine. "We need to move Lish to Singapore." Relieves and worries drowned her brain she needed the most.
"It's doable, but why?" Dipta backed up a step. He felt something odd on the dealing. "Isn't it easier for them to come?"
"They have a world tour, Dipta. You know how it works." Ash massaged her temple. "Fortunately, he could squeeze a tiny bit of time for us."
"Fortunately?" Dipta scoffed at the word. "It's not quite fortunate."
"It is or we will loose her."
Both silently looked at Lish. And both just agreed without a speak. Both knew they should do anything for her. Even if the resort was unhelpful, they would find another way to make Lish back to their life.
______It was early in the morning. Ash was looking out of the window of the room where Lish was settled. The ashtonising sunrise by the horizon didn't bring a joyous feeling as it should. Her mind was too crowded to enjoy the morning routine as she usually does.
She glanced at her wrist. The hands of her watch seemed to move so slow yet too fast. She wanted the night to fall sooner, but hoped to preserve Lish declining condition.
______Evening turned to night. The corridor went shades darker as it's past the visit hours. Only a dimmed lights were on. But Ash still could see the man behind Dipta. She could recognize the frown and the hunched back.
"Welcome, Chris."
