"It's not that big a matter, Changbin. It's just height.
You are lucky you live in an Asian country." I side eyed him and then back to my phone. His whinny self kept on grunting as I scrolled pass some feeds. "Look at him! He has the standard height for an idol."
My eyes fell on passing by high schoolers. I admitted they were pretty tall. And got handsome faces. Did boys wear skin care and make up nowadays?
"Oh, please. Will you be happy if I took you somewhere so you could feel you are quite tall?"
His face lighted up. His smile was so wide, I could see his molars. He looked like a fool to me.
"Alright. Let's wait for your day off. It's my treat, but don't complain." I got this urge to squeezed his face as he nods aggressively.
______A couple of months after, Changbin and I were on a plane. We were on the way to my home country. We got five days for vacation, so we took the chance.
"It's warm and humid," I warned him. "Better wear that hoodie I bought you."
"Okay."
We out of the airport in no time. Touching down at Ngurah Rai, we would spent the night at Denpasar before took another flight to Surabaya after lunch the next day. We got to our private car and went to the booked hotel.
______The first night went well. A dinner at a local restaurants and strolling down the beach, we met people that was the same height as us. Of course some foreigners are living giants, but at that time we could abandon our high heeled footwear merry fully.
In the morning we tried to walk and find breakfast in the traditional market. Joining queues here and there made Changbin excited. We could see people's crowns because most of them were shorter than us.
"You will like our next destination." I smiled at his giggly self.
______"We are here." I took off my shoes and opened the door. "Come. Make your self at home." I gestured him to go inside.
"Where are we?" He seemed nervous. "Why don't we booked hotel rooms or such?" He putted down his luggage in the living room. "Is this one of those rented house? It smells old."
I passed through him and walked to the glass cupboard where some goblets and medals being displayed. "Oh. Sorry. I told them to clean up the house already. But maybe not aired it out quite well." I took a key from behind a medal and used it to open a room." Here you go. It's your room for tonight. Maybe it will get better in the morning after we open the doors." I led him in.
"It's a big bed." He plopped down on the mattress. "It's quite comfy. I don't see any bathroom. Do we share one?"
I smiled at him. "Glad you like it." I turned on the air conditioner before opened the cupboard to took out two comforters. "You can use the main bathroom. Just behind the next door on the right. I will use the other one outside. And I am next door. Just knock if you need something." Put down one of the heavy fabric, I went on my way.
"Okay."
"Oh. By the way, it's small but welcome to my childhood house, Changbin-ssi." I delighted to see his aghast face.
_____We had dinner at one of my favorite street food vendors at the evening then walking around at local parks. The night was perfect. Cool breeze was blowing between tall buildings and the crowds didn't recognize us as we mingling on Tunjungan Street.
"So, how do you think? Are you tall enough?" We sat on a bench, foods in our hand.
"I hate how you drive the motorcycle. Are you a racer?" He slurped his ice cream cone. "The ice cream melted too fast. But I'm not a midget anymore." He laughed happily. "Look! He even shorter than you."
