After the game we were walking back to the bus. I heard a kid call for me so i turned to him. He was maybe 7 years old and he had the other school's t shirt on. I smiled because I thought he was gonna trash talk with me but what he said really shocked me.
Little boy: Good game JJ
Me: Thanks buddy.
Little boy: You're my favorite player. Your the best quaterback ever!
Me: Awe thanks buddy. I don't know about best ever maybe I'm ok though.
I notice he's looking at Skye. I think he might have a little crush on her. I don't blame him though Skye is beautiful. I can tell he's about to ask me something. After a second he finally figures out how he wants to ask so he finally pipes up.
Little boy: Who's she?
Me: That's my girlfriend Skye.
After i say that, Skye smiled at little man and i seen his little face turn deep red. He kinda hid behind my leg for a second.
He grabs my hand to pull me down to his level before whispering to me.
Little boy: She's the most beautiful girl in the whole world.
Me: I know buddy. I really got lucky huh?
He hands me a piece of paper and asks if i can sign it for him. I couldn't say no to the little guy.
Me: Sure, whats your name little man?
Little boy: Max
I wrote : To Max i believe in you kiddo. Your gonna be slinging that ball around one day. Then i signed my autograph under my little message before handing it back to him.
His mom: I hate to bother you but he really would like to take a picture with you. If you don't have time we understand.
Me: Y'all aren't bothering me one bit. I'd love to take some pictures with him.
Max: Can she be in it too?
After he asked i looked at Skye and immediately put a plan together.
Me: Hey can we have one second before we take the pics?
His mom: of course take as much time as you need.
I took Skye to the side before telling her the plan.
Me: Hey babe max has a crush on you. He told me he thinks you're the most beautiful girl in the whole world.
Skye: That's so cute.
Me: I know right.
Skye: He's adorable. He's so sweet.
Me: I'm telling you this because i have a idea. When we go take those pictures I was thinking you can take one hugging him and then i was thinking right before one of the pictures you catch him off guard and give him a kiss on the cheek.
Skye: I love it.
We walk back over to them and get ready to take the pictures. Skye is amazing and i think she added to our little plan on the fly.
Skye: Come here Maxie.
We took the first picture. It was jus him standing to my right with Skye on the left. We took another one with us posing like we were throwing a football. The next one was a silly one with us making a funny face and sticking our tongues out. The 3rd one i put him on my shoulders. The second to last one Skye crouched down and hugged him. I swear if he smiled anymore his face would've cracked. It was time for the last one and time to put the last part of this plan into action.
I picked him up and smiled and right before the picture was taken Skye leaned over and kissed Max on the cheek. That boy instantly lit up and flashed probably the biggest smile I'd ever seen. I acted like I didn't know she was gonna do that and me and Max both looked at her.
Skye: What? I can't give my boyfriend a little kiss?
Me/Max: Boyfriend!!??
Skye: Yeah do you want to be my boyfriend Maxie?
Max: YES!!!!
Me: Damn buddy it took me my whole life to get her and you stole her in like 10 minutes.
Skye: What can i say? He's a cutie.
Skye said that with a wink and smile to Max. He's a blushing mess during this and hides behind my leg. He doesn't see me wink at his mom and she mouths "Thank you" to us.
Before we leave i ask Max something.
Me: Hey buddy can i see that paper again real quick?
He hands it to me and i put my number on it under my signature before handing it back to him.
Me: Here's my number bub. If you're having a hard time or if you just need to talk shoot me a call buddy. Maybe your girlfriend will be able to talk too.
Max: Thank you so much JJ!! My mommy says we have to go now. Bye guys.
Me: Bye buddy, be good. I believe in you.
He hugs my leg and turns to leave but Skye has other plans.
Skye: Dang i guess I don't get a hug from my boyfriend.
He runs to her and hugs her tight. When they break the hug she grabs his face and turns it a little before giving him a big kiss on the cheek before saying something to him.
Skye: Bye cutie.
We all go our separate ways and Skye and I hop on the bus. When we get in our seats she rests her head on my shoulder before talking to me.
Skye: Babe that was so sweet. You were so good with him.
Me: Yeah he's a great kid.
Skye: Yeah he is. He was really sweet. I like him.
Me: Yeah i can tell. He stole you from me.
Skye laughed and playfully smacked my left pec which kinda hurt because my ribs are still bothering me from the game. I didn't show it though because I didnt want her to worry about me.
Skye: Oh hush you know I'm still all yours.
Me: I know babe, I'm just messing around.
Skye: I just can't get over how good you were with him. It was so sweet but i can't help but think about how good you be as a dad.
Me: I don't know about that babe. I don't think i would be a great parent.
Skye: Babe you would be an amazing dad. You just proved it and don't you dare argue with me.
Me: maybe but you just proved how good of a momma you would be.
Skye: You better stop. I may end up being a good mom but I'd be any even better if I was YOUR kids momma.
I picked up her face and kissed her after she said that. I reached in my bag and pulled out a blanket. I leaned up with my back against the window of the bus before i pulled Skye into me. She rested her head on my chest before i threw the blanket over us. Once the blanket was over us i took both my hands on Skye's ass and kinda pushed her up so her face was in my neck. I gave her ass a couple gentle squeezes. She smiled and gave my neck a little peck before melting into me even more. We had one quick exchange where we whispered in eachothers ears.
Me: I love you Princess.
Skye: I love you too my sweet boy.
I put my earbuds in and turned on "Rotten Apple" by Alice In Chains before going to sleep with a smile on my face and the girl of my dreans in my arms.
I know my birthday is tomorrow but I don't think i could be happier then I am at this very moment.
