Hot shot was receiving more chemotherapy today. He was going to get it for a few hours. Tina the child life specialist came into to explain about hair loss.

"Hello Hot shot I am going to explain to you about hair loss," Tina said. "Your hair will fall out two to three weeks after chemotherapy starts but it might start sooner or later," she said. "When and how quickly it happens is different for everyone," she told him. "You might lose just a little bit of hair, or your hair will thin out slowly, or you will lose all of your hair really fast, including your eyebrows and eyelashes," she explained.

"Does it hurt?" Hot shot asked.

"Some might feel some sort of discomfort, like tenderness, burning, tingling, or itching, others don't feel anything," Tina explained.

"Oh," Hot shot said.

"Some kids like to wear pretend hair called a wig, others like to wear bandanas or scarves, and some like to wear different hats, and a few like to go bald and proud," Tina told him. "Some kids even like to do more than one thing such as wearing both hats and wigs," she said.

"Is it up to me what I chose to wear?" Hot shot asked.

"Yes it is, you get to chose whether or not you go with a wig, bandana, hat or being bald and proud," Tina said. "It is your choice," she said. "I have some examples of wigs, bandanas, and hats here for you to try," she said.

"Cool," Hot shot said. Hot shot tried on the wigs. "I don't think these wigs would work," Hot shot admitted.

"That is okay, just find what you like," Tina said.

"Okay," Hot shot said. Hot shot tried on the bandanas next. There were quite a few of them too. Hot shot was sure they were not his style either. Then he tried on the hats. Hot shot liked the hats a lot. Hot shot liked the soft beanie hats a lot. "I like these beanie hats," Hot shot said.

"Well you found what you like that is important," Tina said. "You can chose one that you like to be your first hat," she said. She showed him the donated hats that he could chose from.

"I like this one," Hot shot said choosing a yellow hat.

"That is a fine choice," Tina said. "The color yellow is special because yellow represents the fight against sarcoma cancers," she said.

"Wow I didn't know that," Hot shot said.

Hot shot was able to do a few things while getting his chemotherapy. He found out it was easy to get bored in a hospital.

Soon his chemotherapy was over for the day. Hot shot was wondering when his next treatment was going to be.

"It won't be for another two weeks," the nurse told him.

"Oh," Hot shot said.

"We are going to keep you here for awhile to see how you are doing," Dr. Coaler told him.

"Okay," Hot shot said.

"Very good," Dr. Coaler said.

Friends and family knew about Hot shot's cancer. They sent something to the house. Boulder sent a toy bulldozer. Chase sent a picture book. Blades sent a plush parrot. His uncle Murray sent a plush lion. His grandmum sent a couple of hats she knit herself, and grandad sent a picture book.  Granny sent a soft hat the she sewn together, and pawpaw sent a coloring book.

Hot shot was going to have these things brought to him by his father. Then Heatwave came in the room around dinner time. "Hello Hot shot, I am here for my shift with you," Heatwave said.

"Daddy," Hot shot said.

"I have to go now, I have to go home and get ready to go to work myself," Quickshadow said.
