Meanwhile, Judith and Judah construct a short introduction paragraph, describing themselves, to project towards their classmates.
"Well, I'm done.", Judith puts her pencil down.
"Yeah, me too.", Judah idly scans the classroom.
Judith fiddles with her fingers. Her disregarded pauses causes a nervous hesitation in regards to the commence of a favorable conversation. However, her interval led glances finally meets eyes with her other half.
"Want a friend who can read minds? Wonder around the park, cause I'm not that person.", Judah responds.
"Um...actually...I forgot our teacher's name.", Judith affirms apologetically, intensifying her finger fiddling – only this time, she includes her feet.
"Again? You mean you 'forgot our teacher's name again', right? It's Mr. Owen!", Judah outbursts – understandably for those who are enlightened to Judith's forgetful tendencies.
"You don't have to be so rude!", Judith exclaims. Unfortunately for Judah, Judith's maternal patience for his snubbing slowly deteriorates. Her attempts at eye contact fails in the midst of his scorning, which only gets under her skin, "Well, thank you anyway! I have manners and kindness – nothing like you!"
Despite her remarks, Judah still sits, turned in his seat, silently. "I'm gonna ask Mama to put you in manners classes.", she whispers.
"Stopdoing that! Always talking to yourself. I knew you were nothing but a crazyevil witch!", he detests.
Judith scoffs, "Mr. Owen!", she then raises her hand.
"Oh! Yes, do you need any help?", Mr. Owen walks over towards the two.
"No! Actually, me and Judah are finished with this assignment. Can we start the next one?", Judith suggests, eyeing Judah, as she puts her hand down.
"Already?", Mr. Owen raises his eyebrows.
"Yep", Judah turns to face the two.
"Well, I guess so, but you will have to stop in the middle of the assignment, when everyone else is done, to read your paragraphs. You don't have anything else to add? Are you sure that you don't want to wait until someone else is done? You can make some friends that way."
They take a second and look at each other before they both shake their heads and say, "We're fine."
"You can give us the next assignment and we'll make friends later.", the curly haired boy squints his eyes, "I'm pretty sure you remember the words of our father about socializing. He tells every teacher and always has to remind everybody, so don't forget them."
"That's no way to-", Mr. Owen inhales and exhales slowly, "I'll be right back with your assignments. These are only practice to see where you are so it's ok if you don't get every question right.", he walks back to his desk.
"You gotta think before you speak. If you don't, you'll be sent to the principal's office and I'll have all your toys.", Judith teases, touching a couple strands of her brothers' hair.
"Leave me alone!", he flicks his sister's hand away from him, "He deserved it. Not listening to my father! I'll show him!"
Judith and Judah start their math practice assignments; however, the pair stops halfway through, enabling them to listen to their classmates' introduction's. Judith ends up being the last one to read her own.
"Judith. ...Judith! ...JUDITH!", Judah shouts at his zoned-out sister.
"Oh! Um, yeah?", Judith lands back on Volovire.
