"Aubs-"
"Kel, come on. I'm...alright...I'm too tired for this..."
Sunny spoke up.
"Aubrey, just please...don't tell anyone. Especially not Hero."
"Fine. Nobody'll know. Just...get back to main."
They nodded, Aubrey taking them back to the classroom where Hero and Basil slept soundly. They were joined by the rest, who slept 'till dusty daybreak...

"Mmrgh...mmmmornin'..."
Kel groaned as he sat up, watching Hero as the older boy counted cans and placed them into duffel bags. The others surrounded him and helped as Kel looked at them.
"Guys? Uh, morning?"
Hero perked up and looked over his shoulder, smiling.
"Buenos dias, Kel. Just counting supplies for when we head out."
"Head out? Why?"
"We've been here long enough, looted it, and slept here. Last thing we need is to live here."
Kel nodded as he packed up the things he slept on, and the five headed out.
---
"Hero, can we take a breeeaaaakkkk?"
Hero sighed.
"I guess. We've been walking for a while."
Sunny looked at the sun, squinted, and out a hand above his eyes.
"It's about one o'clock...lunchtime..."
Just as he said that, Basil's stomach rumbled loudly. Everyone stopped and then Hero nodded.
"Oh...Kay? Okay. We'll stop somewhere for lunch."
Kel let out a small "yippee!" As they made their way to an old bus yard, near their campus. The five crouched in the bus and unpacked a few things, the few muttering to each other as they ate quietly. Suddenly, as they ate, there was a thud from somewhere outside the bus. Hearing it, the Desoto brothers stood and cooked their guns toward the noise. The three others stayed quiet and crouched behind more seats they were sure were safe.
Kel nodded to Hero, and the brothers slowly made their way out of the bus.
A few minutes passed, then a longer time.
Aubrey got up and peeked outside, seeing Kel crouched behind another bus as Hero ran around something, open fire. Aubrey saw whay it was, and rushed inside, alerting the others. They all rushed out, weapons out, as they saw whay Hero was shooting at. A small being, maybe thirteen inches tall. The three were confused, until they saw about tan more emerge from under the bus. Then another twelve. The group exchnged looks, and then began.
...
"How the FUCK are elf-sized TWINKS immune to bullets!?"
Aubrey exclaimed as she crouched behind a bus, as Kel bandaged a bite mark.
"I don't know, Aubs. I don't know. But these things are--"
Sunny was flung back, hitting the fence and falling onto the ground. "Sunbun!" Kel exclaimed, jumping up from Aubrey and running to Sunny, making sure he was okay. Aubrey scoffed and looked out from behind the bus, as her eyes went wide. The things had stacked up, creating a bulletproof beast, about seven feet tall. Not nearly as tall as a musk. Basil rushed over as Hero distracted it.
"Okay...uh...ok...um...okay..."
"What? Basil, what?"
Basil looked at Aubrey.
"Well, they don't spread like undead. They can bite and hit, but their only hope of killing you is blood loss or blunt force..."
Aubrey looked at her bandaged thigh and shrugged.
"That's good."
"No, these things are bulletproof. Hero and Kel are useless here. And thought Kel may be, excuse me, an idiot, he knows his stuff. So does Hero."
"I know my stuff!"
"Sorry, Aub, but you'd run into a situation without any thought of what could happen."
"Fine. What about Sunny?"
"He's close range. Daggers and knives. He also just got flung into the fence!"
Suddenly, Hero's voice came from the distance.
"Guys! A little help!?"
Basil perked up before grabbing his bag and running to Hero, before pulling out a paperweight. He looked at Hero, who loaded his gun. The tower of tinys stood tall, before shrieking loudly. That was their sign. So Hero loaded his gun up, cooked the barrel back into place, and looked at Basil. The latter tossed a paperweight into the air, as Hero kneeled down and shot it. From the force, the paperweight shattered, glass shooting everywhere. The five covered their eyes as the tower shrieked again. Basil smiled and looked at Hero, who smiled back.
Aubrey ran up, and grabbed her bat, before jumping up onto the back of the shrieking beast, just to get grabbed by the tiny demons. She screamed as she dropped her bat, fighting against them as she was bitten and scratched up. Basil ran over and grabbed the bat, getting used to it before raiing it up and the crashing it onto the tower, getting multiple screams and cracks. Sunny ran up, digging his knife into it and slicing most in half. Blood squirted across the bus field, as most died. The stragglers, most injured either mentally or physically, scattered away. The ones that ran by Kel got cracked like eggs. The five regrouped around Aubrey, who whined.
"Those motherfuckers..."
Kel shrugged.
"At least you're not infected."
She groaned again and turned her head to the side.
"Ow..."
Hero sighed and leaned down, beginning to bandage her up as Sunny suddenly spoke.
"Can we eat?"

The five sat around a small campfire as they spoke and laughed and ate. Basil smiled."Okay, okay, is it just me, or was that literally that one scene from gravity falls but with five badasses instead of two kids?"
Aubrey leaned back.
"OH my God, yeah! Totally!"
Hero laughed.
"Should we call them gnomes just for that?"
The four said "yes" all about at the same time and Hero laughed again.
"Alright! Gnomes it is! To the battle of annoying little fucks- I mean- gnomes!"
They all raised various cups and bowls of water, clinking them together and laughing, as the five continued to all stories into the night.

---They all awoke at about the same time, and walked quietly to the destination unknown. Hero spoke up.
"So, we found out glass it the gnomes weakness and...that they're bulletproof."
He jotted that down, as Kel spoke up.
"And they're as easy to crack as an egg!"
Hero shuddered and then jotted that down, before Sunny spoke quietly.
"And really easy to slice. Like warm butter."
Hero nodded and he wrote all that down, before putting his notebook away.
"Where to next, team?"
The four shrugged and then stopped. Sunny's eye went wide and he stepped back. Hero tilted his head and then a spike went down his spine as he heard a voice from behind him.
"What's cookin', good lookin'?"
