"No, why? Nu- he's- he's so good, he's the most precious, the sweetest person ever. Why does it have to be him? My teerak, my everything- why- he's in so much pain right now and and- I can't do anything for him-"

a desperate sob tears away from his throat,

"He- I should've stayed with him. What if something happens to him, sky and me and my baby girl we will be so lost- if-"

This feels like the longest day of Zee's life.

The smell of strong antiseptic burns his nose.

The incessant tap tap tap of the heavy machineries is brewing up a headache at the back of his head.

His eyes, bloodshot and dry, keep staring at Nu's unmoving face.

The surgery ended two hours ago.

It went well, or at least that's what the doctor said.

The bleeding stopped.

The only thing they're all awaiting now, is for Nu to gain his consciousness.

Zee stares at his wife's limp form with anguish.

Nu's face is pale, devoid of any colour.

Eyes sunken and lips dry.

Without the protruding belly under the blue hospital gown, he looks so small and frail.

Thick, black lashes cast ominous shadow under his eyes as dark red blood drips from the IV and into the channel on his right hand.

Zee holds his other hand between both of his, Nu's knuckles pressed to his chapped lips as he waits and waits and waits.

For a movement of eyeballs under his closed lids, for a noise,a whimper.

A twitch of his finger.

Something.

Anything.

Net and James came to visit right after the surgery started.
