Chapter 2
I awoke from a wonderful sleep the next morning to the sound of my brother whistling. I sat up sleepily and looked at the clock, 7 o clock. Great I have two hours to be ready and at school.
I grabbed my phone off the bedside table and turned it on. Suddenly I was taken back with the familiar jingle and at least three new text messages. I smirked and clicked the button to read them.
One was from Nat wondering what time I was coming to pick her up this morning. I replied to her with the usual ten to nine and received a little smiley face back. I then erased it and it took me to the next one. Melanie. She was still mad at me from yesterday and did not want me to forget. I didn’t bother to reply.
The last one was from Liam. Get up sleepy head. Lillian’s waiting. I shook my head and stormed out the bedroom to confront him.
“What is this?” I demanded.
He immediately started to laugh. “I figured you’d be angry at me if I woke you personally. Clearly I was right.”
I sighed. “Whatever Liam, I’m going to get dressed.”
I ran back up the stairs and changed into my school uniform. I walked into the bathroom, brushed through my dark brown coloured hair, and grinned. I’ve always loved my hair and I laughed every time someone said something about it. It’s different from everyone else and I like that. Even when I was with Lucas people used to give me crap about it but I always felt special whenever someone mentioned my hair.
Once I was done, I winked at myself in the mirror and headed out the door. No make-up, no nothing. Liam was not the only one lucky enough to be blessed with the Samson family looks. Liam’s hair is a dark brown with a reddish tint and his eyes are a perfect blue. Mine are brown and my hair is dark brown but our skin is the same, smooth and clear. Tanned and lucky enough lacking freckles.
Sure most girls thought Liam was hot but whenever I went places with my friends, I was always the one receiving one receiving the digits. It always seemed to make Melanie jealous.
Melanie was pretty. I always thought of her as a golden child. She has light brown hair and large hazel eyes and always wore just the right amount of makeup. She always upstaged me when we were little. Then I grew into my body and I almost looked human.
That was when I started to get more friends and that was when Lucas first asked me out. Before we started dating, I had the biggest crush on him. Everyone did. That’s why when he did ask me; officially, to be his girlfriend everyone was shocked. Including Savannah Beeville.
Savannah Beeville always had it in for our relationship from day one. Back then, she was the girl all the guys wanted. Just like Lucas and the girls. Therefore, when Lucas and I made it official she completely flipped out. She didn’t understand how Lucas could be dating such a ‘loser’ like me. Lucas made me popular.
Lucas was the friendliest person back in year nine. He had friends, he had a girlfriend, make those two girlfriends and the boys loved him for it. Thought he was a legend how he could manage us both at the same time. Then he was caught.
Of course, Savannah knew about it but not me. I felt like an idiot. It was then that I realized love did not exist.
Back in reality, I walked back down stairs to sit down at the table and scoff a bowl of cereal before brushing my teeth and heading out the door behind Liam.
When we arrived out the front of Natalie’s house, I honked the horn, she came running out and into the back seat, and before I knew it, I was out the front of the school. I drove into the parking lot and parked next to the all too familiar BMW. Lucas.
