Chapter 14
*Lacey*
On Monday, Elijah picked me up in his truck just as he’d promised on the weekend and we drove together with the roof down. We stopped at a coffee shop for a quick breakfast then we drove the rest of the way to school. When Eli pulled into the car park, I pulled out my phone to text the girls.
Just arrived, meet me in the parking lot, bring Mel and Os. I sent to Natalie knowing she’d be with the others.
“What’s all that about?” Eli asked curiously.
“I’m being honest. I told them all to meet me here.” I grinned at Eli as he grabbed my hand and kissed each of my fingers gently.
He nodded in approval. “In that case I’ll text Alexis.”
I frowned. “You have her number?”
“She put it in my phone.” He explained.
I chuckled. “That’s funny; I don’t see how you didn’t notice how many girls were into you.”
He shrugged. “You’re the only girl I see Lacey.”
I smiled and dropped his hand so that I could open my door and get out of the car just as Natalie, Mel, Oscar and Alex walked over to us.
Eli came around from the side of the car and put his arms around my waist. He leant down, placed his chin on my shoulder, and kissed my cheek softly.
I looked at my friends and smiled. “What’s up guys?”
Melanie nudged a gaping Natalie and Nat blinked a few times then smiled.
“Aw, that’s so sweet. I never thought I’d see the day Lacey Samson fell in love.” Melanie smiled.
Nat winked. “I did. She’s a total softy; it was going to happen sooner or later.”
Oscar just chuckled and turned around to leave. “Have a nice life with her dude. Good luck!”
We all laughed and Eli moved back and grabbed my hand.
The rest of the day went quickly.
Eli and I spent all day together and when the final bell rang, we snuck off to our oak tree to do our science homework together.
I smiled up into his blue eyes and threw my pen onto my book. “This is impossible to do.”
He shook his head. “It’s easy, here, I’ll show you.”
I laughed. “I didn’t mean that. I meant sitting here in front of you is impossible. I can’t concentrate.”
He smiled softly and grabbed my hand. “That’s only because you don’t want to concentrate.”
I shrugged. “You know me too well Eli.”
He chuckled and lay back into the grass. I rested my head on his stomach and turned my head so that I could see his face.
“How’s your mum going?” Elijah wondered.
After taking dad to see mum on the weekend dad had seen how bad mum really was and decided to pay for her to go into rehab for a couple of weeks. Dad had put mum’s house on the market and has already started moving her things into his house.
“She’s okay I think. Seeing dad’s face really helped though. I honestly don’t think she needs to be there I think all she needs is to know dad’s there.” I told him.
