Chapter Ten: The Land and The Sea
Packing some simple things to bring with her, Ivy prepared a bag to bring to Atlantis with her. Harley couldn't deny being a little shook. "Ivy, wait... are you serious about this?". Ivy looked over to Harley, then continued packing. "Yes, Harl. I need to discuss some things with Waterboy. I had some revelations at Arkham". Harley lifted an eyebrow in perplexation. "Revelations? That's a fancy word. What kind of revelations?". Ivy continued to ruffle through some clothes. "The Green, The Blue, humanity, you know, the typical things normal people think about". Harley laughed and sat next to her. Harley looked up at Red knowing something was amiss. "Did Mr. J say some things to yah when I went to find my hammer?".
Ivy stopped and looked over at Harley, then back at what she was doing. "Yes", Red said nonchalantly. "What did he say?". Ivy huffed, breaking her façade. "You know what he would say... you're forgetting about the green Ivy, where is that past madness. His mind games are not new news for me". Harley jumped in Ivy's office chair and began spinning. "...But". Red looked up at Harley, realizing again how good of friends they were. "But... I can't help to consider some of what Joker had to say. The green is still by baby. The only reason why I haven't gone after humanity again is because of there purpose in helping the green". Harley got up and grabbed Ivy's and her own Jacket, then gave Ivy her jacket. "Maybe it is a good idea to talk to Water boy, he knows more about this stuff than I do". Ivy walked to the bathroom and began combing her hair. "Wanna come with?". Harley giggled. "It would be fun, but I got some plans of my own. Thanks though". Ivy walked to her closet, grabbed her swimsuit just in case and headed for the door. "Okay, bye Harl". "Bye Red".
Atlantis was just as lively as ever. Its citizens were running left and right going to work, school, or any other activity. The city lights were beaming as usual, and the security teams were conducting their routine checks. At least that's what Aquaman could tell from looking up above from one of the Parapets. Cheetah was transferred to a containment facility, Black Manta was taken to Arkam, King Shark was on route to another containment facility when the beacon went off, but all in all, the prison transfers were going smoothly. Everything felt right which was surprisingly unusual. Then he remembered the deal with addressing humanity with the help of Poison Ivy. He couldn't help but feel there was something missing. He almost agreed with Dr. Isley that humans wouldn't appreciate their peace declaration, but they had to give it a try, right? Aquaman turned around to see a Guard opening the gates to the parapet. He approached. "A Dr. Isley is here to see you my King". Aquaman nodded and looked back at Atlantis once more. Speak of the devil he thought, then turned to walk down to the courtyard.
The King opened the doors to the courtyard to see Ivy in the middle sitting at a round table. The King approached. "Ahem, Dr. Isley". Ivy turned to see the water boy. "Hey Arthur, sorry for the unexpected visit, but I didn't have a way to contact you". Arthur scratched the back of his hair, "It's alright, what did you want to discuss?". Ivy got up. "Our alliance and humanity". Arthur nodded. "Funny, I was thinking about the same thing". Ivy put her hand on her hip and began her spiel. "I want to...help...humans Arthur. I want to help you do that". Aquaman waited for the 'but'. "However, the Green is my baby, just like how you care for the Blue. Humanity is not my main priority Arthur". Ivy then leaned on the table. "Heck, I still don't like humans. They have hurt the Green to such an extent that there is no going back to primal perfection. It's hard Arthur". Aquaman could feel the conflict in her emotions. In fact, he could relate. There were many times when he had retaliated against humans for hurting the Blue. "I know how you feel Dr. Isley. Humans have ruined the ocean beyond recovery. Yet, not even Superman could take on the whole world. Besides, and you know this, we need humanity to assist if we are even going to have a chance to help the Green and the Blue". Ivy slowly nodded in hesitant agreement. "Yes, I also considered that fact. I agree, we should at least try". Ivy then stared at Aquaman. Arthur lifted an eyebrow, realizing she had a suppressing thought, 'What?". "However, I am not holding back if they retaliate". Aquaman put his hands forward, "Wait, what do you mean by retaliate?". Ivy thrusted her hands in the air, "You know... if they show us violence!". Aquaman scoffed, "Thanks Captain Obvious, but I don't think they would just start bombing us immediately". Ivy grunted, then sat down. "You forgot something Arthur". Arthur laughed, "Hah, I never forget anything, what could I have for-". "I'm labeled as a terrorist. They will treat you differently to how they will treat me". Arthur hesitated. "...oh". Ivy shot up, "Oh?! That's all you have to say, oh??!". The King gathered his thoughts. "Well, you did help fight Brainiac. Batman listed you as an assistant in the battle". Ivy calmed. "Hmm, well that's something. But I will still fight the humans if necessary". "You can't Pamela". "What, I can't defend myself?". "You can't return violence for violence. It'll look bad on us". "Don't coddle me!". Aquaman put his hand on the table and leaned closer. "Coddle you?". Ivy couldn't hide the blush.
*CRASH*
The two looked up to see a figure crash through the ceiling. "Not again, we just repaired that!", yelled Aquaman. As the dust cleared, King Shark came into view. "I remember, the route beacon turned off, he must have escaped". Ivy laughed, "So much for state-of-the-art security". "Hey!". The duo looked up to see King Shark charging them in a violent rampage. The two separated and rolled to dodge the attack. "He seems a lot more violent them last time. It almost seems unnatural", Ivy noted. Aquaman nodded in agreement. Pamela lifted her hand and commanded two vines to erupt from the floor and encircle the humanoid shark. Arthur then summoned his trident, reared back, and threw it at the enemy. Without notice, King shark thrusted his arm and blocked the trident. He then ripped through the vines and dropped to floor. Ivy cursed and summoned her rhytidome skin. King Shark ran in a full charge at Poison Ivy. Ivy summoned a root from the ground to block the shark metahuman. With hardly any restraint, King Shark busted through the root blockade. Ivy prepared lifted her arms to try and tank the attack, knowing it would not go well. *splurt*
Ivy looked up to see King Shark impaled in the ground with a trident. She looked over to see Aquaman looking at King Shark, then to her. "Arthur! I thought we don't kill!". Arthur scoffed, "You're just saying that because he's a villain". Ivy crossed her arms. "So, you think I'm a villain!". Arthur quickly realized his mistake. "No! no. I was just joking". The two ran to King Shark. "He's still alive, just unconscious. We can take him to your med bay". Arthur agreed. Aquaman then began to lift him up. "Stop!", yelled Ivy. Aquaman put him down. "What?! He's dying". Ivy looked with horror at something. "He's already doomed to die". Arthur walked over to see what she was looking at. Upon seeing it, the false sense of security he had instantly crashed to the floor. Despite it being only the size of a volleyball, its presence meant something Aquaman feared ever since the loss of Superman. Invasion.
