It was now my Third Year. Mom had signed my permission to go to Hogsmeade. I was very excited, and so was Elphias.
The Sorting Ceremony was about to start. Professor Weasley called the students one by one. Then, she called a name, one that I wouldn't forget, because the girl was just— gorgeous.
"McGonagall Minerva!"
The girl sat down and we waited. About five minutes later, it said "GRYFFINDOR!"
I looked at Elphias, who was smiling widely. I could see how he looked at her and had to admit that he had more chances to go out with her than I did. So I just smiled, wanting my best friend to be happy even though I couldn't tear my eyes away from her. She had long black hair and emerald green eyes. Perfect, I thought. She was perfect.
"Albus! I'm talking to you!" said Derrick.
"Sorry. What is it?"
"She's eleven, mate! she's just a kid!"
"I know. And El' fancies her, too."
"That shouldn't be a problem, Al'. It doesn't matter. You're allowed to fancy her even if your best mate does, too."
"No. I want him to be happy."
"And you can't?"
"It doesn't matter, Derrick. As long as El' is happy."
"Albus! Stop it! You know what? Go and talk to her!"
"What? No!"
"Al-"
"No, Derrick!"
"Okay, fine!"

The following weekend, I was sitting in the library, reading, when she sat next to me.
"Hi," she said. "Do you think you can help me?" she asked shyly.
"Uhm— yeah, sure! What do you need help with?"
"I'd like to read some advanced books on Transfiguration. Do you know some?"
"Uhm— Yeah, maybe. Why?"
"It's my favorite subject and I'd like to learn more things about it."
"Okay. Come with me."
I got up and she followed me. She really was beautiful. She was pretty tall, too, for her young age. She's just a kid, Albus, and so are you. Stop staring. If you look at her that way now, then imagine what it will be like when she'll start having some curves! She'll just be even more gorgeous, I thought. I showed her the books she was looking for and she looked at the titles, taking the biggest, but the most exciting. I smiled.
"Nice choices, Mrs. McGonagall," I said, making her blush.
"How do you know my name?" she asked.
"The Sorting Ceremony," I answered.
"Oh. Well— you remember well."
"Thanks."
She was very kind. From that day, we became friends. Sometimes, it was agonizing to be with her. She was so beautiful, and we were just friends. I told myself that it was just a teenage crush, that it would fade, but by the end of the year, my heartbeat still increased whenever I was with her.
