How could she be the one? I mean look at her!

She has boring brown hair, and ugly green eyes. She's short. Like what kind of hero is short? She has this weird thing for old people. And brought another human with her!

And the worst of all. Brax likes her. As in more than friends. She doesn't even know who he is!

It's like this thing Brax told me humans do. Where they get crushes on famous people. As if they even have a chance to even say hi to them. Let alone marry them or something.

It makes me mad. He thinks I don't know, too.

Mr. Yarrowood sat down in his seat, and I sat down on the couch. Brax joined me as Kaitlyn, and the other girl shared the sofa chair.

I stared at the girl. What color hair was that? We don't have that color here. It looks like a pale yellow. When she saw me staring, her brown eyes widened, and her cheeks filled with color.

I looked away when Mr. Yarrowood cleared his throat. We all turned to look at him. "So, I guess I should start with why you are here." He said, Kaitlyn and the other girl nodded slowly nodded.

"To put this simply, you are the chosen one." He said, looking at Kaitlyn. She pointed a finger at herself and when Mr. Yarrowood nodded, she reacted in a way I never expected.

She laughed. First it was a snicker but then it turned into a sort of wheeze. The other girl laughed at her laughing, and I saw Brax smile lightly.

What is wrong with everyone? Even Mr. Yarrowood was fine with the utter disrespect. This title is an honor, and she's laughing as if it's a joke.

I knew she wasn't the right one.

"S-sorry." She wiped an imaginary tear from her face. I glared at her, but she didn't notice.

"I mean it, you are the one who will save our world." Mr. Yarrowood said.

"Wait, like Harry Potter?" Kaitlyn asked, earning a puzzled look from Mr. Yarrowood "I don't know what that is..." He said, confused.

"Technically Harry and Neville were the chosen ones, Voldemort just chose Harry." The other girl stated, and Kaitlyn waved her off.

Mr. Yarrowood checked the time on his watch, his brow furrowed. "We must hurry, how about I show you why you are here. It'll explain everything much faster and then we can get to questions, our evening meal, and sleep."

He stood up and left. There was a moment of silence before Brax awkwardly said, "Er, I think we follow." He stood up and held the door open.

I stood and left. When I exited the cabin, a light breeze hit me. My ponytails swayed lightly; I watched as Mr. Yarrowood walked to the water gatherer.

It was a big, stone circle. It would collect rain so we could use it to travel.

I started to walk towards him. "Mr. Yarrowood?" I asked when I had reached him.

"Katana." He turned to me, his eye looking deep into my soul, like he knew my every thought. "I know she doesn't seem right now, but she will, in time. Don't you worry yourself." He has this way of predicting what I'm going to say, maybe it's just because we've been together for so long.

My dad had died when I was young, and after a few months, my mom decided I was too much of a burden to care for. One day, she found Mr. Yarrowood, he was buying something. She asked him to watch me, he said yes, she left...and never came back.

I looked wistfully into the water. Sometimes I wished my mother died instead of my dad. I bet he would've cared for me. He would've given me a great childhood, and we'd probably get a pet, and I'd bring friends over from school.
