Being a nobleman's daughter is no easy work: having the difficult choice of what you'll be wearing at breakfast, lunch and dinner, to making the decision of whether to play the piano or read a book in the veranda.
Y/N is having the dilemma of the former, as dinner approaches. She stands in the middle of the room, looking at all the dresses the maids are holding. She ponders while the maids' hands start to shake at the weight of these dresses, yet they know better than to show their exhaustion to the 'princess' of the family. They've heard rumors of the only daughter's temperament, how she is quick to become upset when things don't go her way, or if someone messes up. They've seen her get annoyed, yet never truly angry as these rumors claim, and they will not try to find out.
"The blue one," she finally decides, and the maids are quick to put back the dresses into the dressing room and leave while the one holding the blue dress steps over to the young lady.
"Excellent choice, miss," the slightly older woman speaks, a soft smile on her lips, "it compliments your complexion."
"Doesn't it?" Y/N smiles back. The maid helps Y/N get into her dress, and does her hair while she sits in front of the vanity.
"I heard from your father that a man is coming for dinner," the maid continues, "and apparently he's from Krasnaya. Perhaps a possible suitor?"
Y/N rolls her eyes. "You know my stance on this, Mila. I don't want to have a man brought to me like that, he needs to find me naturally."
Mila chuckles, "And I still don't understand why that's not considered natural in your book."
"Well, I imagine it being more... out there, you know?" Y/N sighs, "For example, I'd be walking down a road and he'd accidentally bump into me, and we'd meet eyes and instantly fall in love."
Mila hugs Y/N's neck from the back, looking at her through the vanity mirror. "You know how outlandish that sounds, right? You haven't even left the estate once after you arrived here. And you should stop reading those weird romance books, they're messing with your head."
Y/N playfully rolls her eyes, "I know I said you're like a sister to me, but you're really pushing my buttons right now. Besides, there's nothing interesting here so all I have are the books you hate so much."
Mila laughs patting Y/N's shoulder, and walks to the door. "Dinner will be ready in an hour, try not to get lost in those weird-ass books until then."
Y/N throws a decorative pillow at Mila, but the maid manages to close the door fast enough to not get hit.
Y/N huffs. Her father travels a lot all over the world, visiting places where he bought land and whatnot, and the one time he invited her to come with was to a place far away from modern civilization—a ranch out in Westland. At least she could bring Mila from back home, someone who isn't just a maid to her but also her best friend, and basically her older sister.
A knock brings her out of her thoughts, and her father walks in.
"My little princess," he beams at his daughter, "you look beautiful."
She smiles while standing up from her seat, and walks towards her father. "I'm not little anymore, Tata."
He chuckles, squeezing her cheeks. "You'll always be little to me. We have a guest arriving soon, and I just came to check on you."
"Right, the one from Krasnaya. I hope you don't have any weird plans of getting him to court me like the previous ones?" She raises an eyebrow.
Her father's smile fades a little before he responds. "No, it's different. Nothing you should be worried about."
