Takal looked around himself, nervously watching as random humans began to approach him holding whatever they could use as a weapon. He snatched the Zeel from Jayron's hands and placed it in his jacket pocket. The humans had surrounded the alien. He could do nothing but jump up into the air as high as he could to avoid being killed.
The humans of this city weren't safe enough to be around for Takal. He had failed to make Jayron undo the mess he caused them and in turn made their situation worse.
Whatever he had initiated, Jayron was just thankful for their service to him."Sorry for showing up on such short notice," Takal said as he entered the Koeos's pawn shop.
"Day like this, you show up unannounced?" Koeos asked casually. "But what is that you want?"
"Yesterday I got separated from my friends," Takal sighed. "Wait, you have a shuttle, right?"
"I do," Koeos responded nervously. He wondered if Takal was going to ask him to use it. He worried himself about it.
Takal had thought about this conversation the entire way here. He wasn't shy about needing help. He would have felt embarrassed or shocked a week ago, but now there was no embarrassment to be felt.
"Hey, can I borrow the shuttle?" Takal asked.
"Of course," Koeos said as he began to show Takal where he kept.
"Seriously?!" Takal shouted as Koeos walked him toward the back of the shop. "All I had to do was ask? You aren't questioning whether you should trust me? Come on, make this a little harder!"
"Why should I question a fellow alien?" Koeos asked as he opened the backdoor to enter a parking lot.
"Are you going to show me where it is?" Takal asked, looking at the empty lot.
"Hey, I thought you were an alien," Koeos approached the lot.
"What do you mean?" Takal didn't even follow the alien.
"Sure, it may look like nothing is here..." Koeos searched the area until eventually he pressed something that released a ramp, revealing the inside of an alien shuttle. "I bet you feel stupid now."
"What?" Takal didn't feel wrong for questioning the existence of the shuttle.
"That is the shuttle I used to escape a failing mission," Koeos revealed.
"Which was what?" Takal asked.
"Stop," Koeos waved his hand to try and end the topic before it continued. "My past is a secret. Where do you plan on taking it?"
"I need to find my friends," Takal said. "So this shuttle is gonna help me get around since I used the last of the money to get here. This thing is so old though. And are you sure it can get me to where I need to go? While I trust any and all alien products, this one just doesn't look good."
"Uh huh," Koeos just stared at Takal, disappointed in his words.
Takal beat himself for even speaking his mind. He feared the alien might think he's a creep.
"Uh, so the shuttle does need some work," Koeos revealed. "I'd just have to place some of the parts I ripped out to keep it safe back in."
"What's the length of repair?" Takal asked.
"I would say around 18 to 19 hours," Koeos said.
"You gotta be kidding me," Takal responded.
"Alright, my hands aren't as young as they used to be," Koeos said. "But I'll try to get it done quickly."
"Little quickness never hurt anyone," Takal gestured with his hand to do more than be quick.
"So just have a seat somewhere," Koeos began to remember how to repair shuttles.
"Go on then, get started," Takal said as he walked into the shuttle to take a seat.
Koeos remembered the day he had to abandon ship and fly to safety. The enemy had surprised the entire crew with an attack. They were having fun destroying them. Everyone aborted the ship quickly. The situation grew increasingly worse as the attack continued. Koeos didn't know what to do. He was the senior in the shuttle repair operations group. He'd been held back from this position for so long that it stuck to him like a knife to the head.
The aliens reacted to the attack in a moronic way. No one talked to one another. This was all new to most of them as they were freshly placed onto the ship. Koeos didn't have a single experienced alien in his group. He couldn't believe his luck. Funny enough, he didn't even know any of their names.
Not being on a name bias was unusual for aliens. It was totally odd for aliens to not know each other.
He got caught in a shuttle on his own during the final moments of the attack. He felt sorry for leaving behind his comrades that day. There was no explanation for what he did. He was flustered. He promised himself that the next time he found aliens in need, he would help them get straightened out.
He didn't mind helping Takal. He didn't want to question anything the alien needed. Whatever Takal would say he needed, Koeos would get it, even if it freaked him out a little.
Takal could tell that there was something wrong with Koeos. The alien was sweating and looking at the interior of the shuttle nervously. He went over to see what was making Koeos freak out and when he peeked, he saw nothing wrong. But Koeos was clearly freaked out. Takal wanted to take another peek.
"Just sit down!" Koeos shouted at the alien. The part needed to start the shuttle got damaged. This would mean that the repair time of the shuttle was doubled that of its original time. Whatever protection Takal was hoping to give to his friends would need to wait.
"Are you okay?" Takal asked.
"Yes!" Koeos shouted at him.
"Whoa," Takal could tell something was seriously wrong. He never saw the alien so angry. Nothing was okay right now.
"Everythings fine," Koeos tried reassuring Takal. On the inside, the alien was dying.Wift was walking back to her car one night when she saw two men, one large and the small, approaching her in the opposite direction. She smiled once she recognized them and leaped to attack. The smaller man was Ous, and he was shocked to see Wift coming at them. Takal pushed him out of the way once he saw Wift slam her leg down at the ground they once stood on.
"What the...?" Ous asked himself as Wift slowly stood up straight. "I don't know if she knows it's us. You're attacking your friends!"
Wift jumped up into the air, kicking Ous in the face during this process. When she landed on her feet, she ran straight for Takal. Every kick and punch she threw at him was blocked and dodged. Ous was confused as to why she was targeting them like this.
Takal eventually grew annoyed and went to kick her off her feet. Wift saw this attack coming and jumped off the ground she stood on. Takal was getting frustrated with her and Ous knew it. She stuck her tongue out at the alien, making fun of how easily it was for her to read his movements.
Takal laughed as he believed Wift had some nerve attacking them. He now had to attack her. He threw a punch that Wift quickly dodged. With her bent down stance, she grabbed the arm that Takal used to hit her with. She was going to try and throw him to the ground after grappling his arm.
Takal had seen this move coming and stopped himself from getting thrown. The idea was smart. If only Wift was a bit stronger. Now, as Takal reeled his fist back to hit her in the face, he stopped for a moment to think. The blow he was planning to send at her would have killed her. An alien killing an alien was wrong.
He couldn't mask his emotions. Wift could tell that the alien in front of her couldn't complete the attack.
"What the hell are you doing?" Takal asked Wift. She smiled and brought herself closer to his face, causing the alien to blush.
"I want to kill you two so that you never come looking for me again," Wift said.
"What?" Ous asked after hearing what she said.
"I knew that you two would come looking for me at some point," Wift explained. "I'm done fighting this battle. Be gone before I kill you both."
"That's..." Ous wasn't sure how to respond. "Why are you so afraid?"
"My face was nearly caved in by this guy last week," Wift began. "That guy you're after is too strong."
"Excuse us for wanting to live," Ous said. "Could you just–"
"Let's leave her alone!" Takal said.
"Hello?" Ous didn't understand why Takal was talking like this. They both had looked into each other's eyes and seen something. By the looks of it, Wift was tired of fighting and Takal was tired of trying to convince her to fight. Ous was the only one confused out of the three of them.
"With just the two of us, we can find the human," Takal said, still looking into Wift's dark eyes.
"What if we're already too late?" Ous asked. He was still in shock over Takal's decision. The alien was acting way too cool right now. "Come on, Wift, let's just do this together! Our chances of winning are greater with you involved! Let's fight together!"
Takal removed his arm out of the grappled hold Wift had it under. He walked past her to meet with Ous and left her there alone."Ous!" Takal shouted as he was preparing the now fixed shuttle for take off. Ous was outside, choking on the idea that Wift didn't join them. "Do you wanna get left behind like her? Ous!"
Ous pulled himself together, surprised Takal. He jumped into the shuttle and made his way over to the co-pilot chair.
"I hate her!" Ous shouted. "What is her problem?"
"Are you really asking that?" Takal asked.
"Don't stop," said Wift who now stood at the foot of the ramp. "Just tell me why you aren't surprised that I'm not joining you. Shouldn't I be the one that's not surprised that you're fighting to protect the planet from people that want to kill you? The humans don't deserve to be saved, but you think otherwise. It is as if you've let that skin you're wearing control you, but that's not true, is it? That's not the reason why you're risking your life to fight a guy that's stronger than the both of us combined, right?"
"What makes you think I care about humans?" Takal turned and asked her. "You're wrong, you know that, right?"
"I hope so," Wift walked over and took a seat in the shuttle. "I don't want to put my faith in you again only for things to get messed up for a third time."
"Say that again when we've stopped this human from escaping back into his universe," Takal shook his head.
