It was a late night in the town of McLean. A young officer who kept guard at the National Counterterrorism Center was just leaving the bar that night when he ran into Ous, disguised as a human, standing in the middle of the road a few feet away from him.
"Ah, you're trying to be scary, huh?" the officer shouted, still a bit tipsy from his many drinks in the bar. The officer then reached behind him and pulled out his gun. When he looked back at Ous, he found the alien to be missing from his view.
"So sad to see an officer of the NCC fail like this," Takal, also disguised as a human, said from behind the officer. He quickly turned to the alien the moment words slipped from his mouth.
"Ah, this must be some sort of sneak attack," the officer now pointed his gun at Takal.
"You think this is what sneaking looks like?" Takal asked the officer.
"Real talk, I do," the officer shrugged. "Real shit!"
Before the officer could pull the trigger, Takal made a quicker move by aiming his laser gun at the officer and shooting the hand he held the gun with.
"You punk," the officer shouted as he held his wounded hand and tried escaping Takal. "And here I thought this would be an easy fight!"
When the officer took a few more steps back, he found himself bumping into Ous, who had returned to his original spot. The officer turned and screamed at the sight of him, before taking off by foot.
"It's not like you're actually gonna escape us," Ous sighed as he watched the officer attempt to escape.
The officer ran until Takal jumped over him and landed right in front of him. The officer turned away from Takal to run in the opposite direction. He was met by Ous, who was approaching him slowly. The officer was practically cornered as the two aliens inched closer towards him.
Takal used his strength to grab the officer by the throat and lift him off his feet. He grunted the entire way up into the air. Takal was finding this all amusing.
"I won't tell you anything," the officer shouted at Takal and Ous.
"Yeah, you sure about that?" Ous asked this before getting the officer's bleeding hand and squeezing it tightly. "A little bit more of a squeeze and you still won't say anything?"
"I know he's gonna talk," Takal said to Ous. "So let's get started. Who was the last person to see Wift?"
"I'm not sure who that is!" the officer shouted. He screamed as Takal and Ous both tightened their grip around his neck and wound.
"And where did she go?" Ous asked.
"I don't know who you're talking about..." the officer said.
"There's not a lot of time for this," Takal said. "Let me ask one more time: two officers watched an alien disappear, right?"
"Yes there were two of us..." the officer revealed. "Nearly killed us... The alien used a resource to get away... located in our boss's office..."
"And what sort of resource was that?" Ous asked.
"Yes, well," the officer wasn't sure how to even explain what Wift used on him. "How do I explain a device strong enough to control minds? That's why I can't explain it... no... the device was called the Zeel... From what I remember? Only a few of us know about it... humans only... How come you ask?"
"Don't worry about it," Takal said. "Tell me where she went."
"Leavenworth Kansas," the officer said.
"And why would she go there?" Ous asked.
"The alien said it matched a quiet and tranquil place for her to hide..." the officer said. "She's gonna stay there, and make sure her life ends the right way. And no one can make her come out of it... And... Both of us had our memories whipped of the entire thing. But... the thing about the Zeel is that it doesn't work on every mind... The possibility of it being the both of us was slim... And it just so happened to be me... Leavenworth Kansas is where you'll find her. The exact location of where she's hiding is unknown to me."
"All right, that's enough," Takal said. He dropped the officer to the ground, where he collapsed from exhaustion. "Thank you for everything. You did better than the last guy."
The officer tried getting up, but Takal stepped in front of him. The officer looked up at Takal, in so much pain.
"Well," Takal said while towering over the officer. I'll have to make sure that one thing is taken care of: you have to die."
Ous smiled evilly in the background as Takal reached down to grab his head.
"What?" the officer asked, looking into Takal's eyes. "Kill me? No! You're the ones that needed my help? Get me some sort of reward for it! No!"
The town echoed with his screams as Takal and Ous both began killing the officer. The sound of his body being crushed and broken could be heard by those nearby. He didn't want to be killed that night. He didn't want to experience the pain of death. It was one of his biggest fears. His blood stained the ground he laid on.Takal and Ous arrived in Leavenworth where they managed to locate Wift at a local aquatic center. When asking for her, one of her students led them to the pool she'd been swimming in at the moment. It surprised Takal and Ous to see that she was swimming when most aliens didn't know how to swim.
"In this?" Ous asked while pointing at the pool in front of them. To their surprise, Wift came jumping out of the pool disguised as a human, wearing goggles and a bikini. Takal wasn't sure how to react about the way she looked.
"How long does she usually swim for?" Takal asked.
"It's usually an hour," the student said.
"At least she's doing something she loves?" Ous asked himself this, puzzled about how much fun this could possibly be.
"She doesn't usually come up for air a lot, which is humanly impossible," the student laughed. "Doing what she does makes us want to become better swimmers."
"More like killing yourselves," Ous whispered to himself.
"No, it's not killing ourselves," the student had overheard Ous's comments to himself. "More like we want ourselves to be just like her."
Wift jumped out of the water again, only this time she jumped all the way onto the surface. Takal and Ous watched her jump up above them, looking so majestic and godlike in the air. She landed down softly behind them, water dripping off her body.
"Ms. Yessica Henderson," the student called out to Wift. "Good on you to finally join us."
Wift removed his goggles and looked at the two human disguised aliens in front of her.
"I'm not talking to you two," Wift said to the aliens. "What led you to me?"
"What did we do?" Ous asked. "No one told you to run away."
"Need you to give us some time alone," Wift told her student.
"Are you okay?" the student asked Wift.
"We've got a lot to talk about," Wift said to her student. The student stepped away but only as an enemy. She was headed by someone secluded so she could report into the CIA. Roughly 20 agents were sent to the location to kill the aliens head on.
"They're good to me here," Wift explained to the two aliens. "Can you just leave me be?"
"Come on," Ous said.
As the agents began to arrive at the scene, the police were called in to help evacuate the area. People were forced to run out of the aquatic center.
"I'm not leaving," Wift said with her arms crossed.
"We'll need you," Takal said. "Look, there's something terrible coming to this planet. That's why we're here."
"And you think I'm just going to drop everything to help you?" Wift asked. "Me, Ous and you both saw what that human could do... You're telling me you want to try and stop him? You're sure you're not losing it?"
"We're gonna need as many hands on deck as possible," Takal said. "Bad things are gonna happen to this planet, understand?"
"They're already screwed!" Wift shouted. "Cover your eyes and listen to what you're saying! Protecting the humans from us was what the Chosen Ones were doing a few weeks ago!"
"It's different this time..." Takal said.
"Hang on... how?" Wift asked. The sound of doors being kicked down could be heard in the center. Police officers began dropping into the building.
As they stepped in, they found the center to be empty. They couldn't use any excuse as to what happened to the aliens. The body of water coming from Wift remained in the spot she was in before. One officer bent down and tried tracking where the trail of water led. They were thankful that the aliens weren't smart enough to erase any traces of evidence.
The officers began opening fire on the three aliens as they found them trying to escape. This was a game for them as they could see the alien helplessly trying to live.
Takal, having had enough of running, ran at the officers trying to kill him. He rammed into one of them, knocking them out completely. The officers, feeling enraged over Takal's attack, began rapidly opening fire on him.
Takal tried fighting through the aliens as much as he could, but they were surrounding him too fast. Ous and Wift weren't going to let Takal die like this. They screamed as they ran into battle with the police officers. The two aliens ran through the bunch of them, beating as many as they could. Things had changed in the battle. The aliens were no longer in trouble. The mere police officers in front of them were defeated. Ous felt so alive in the moment that he screamed with joy.By the time the CIA arrived at the scene, they found themselves shocked by what they saw before them. It looked as though an explosion went off in the center. Dead bodies were all over the ground. Their blood was splattered all over the walls. Pools of blood laid beside their bodies. Even the CIA informant was on the floor, dying. She gave them as much information as she could on where the aliens might have taken off to.
The door was opened to an old truck that Wift had stolen when she arrived in Leavenworth.
"Come on, we have to hurry," Ous said while looking around the perimeter for any more officers.
"Are you trying to rush me...?" Wift asked Ous while searching the truck. In her hand, she held the glowing red object known as the Zeel.
"This is the thing that human used?" Takal looked at it oddly.
"It's called the Zeel," Wift explained. "You're gonna use it once to find the woman you're looking for. I'll help you this one time... then get out of my world."
