"I want a divorce, Taehyung."
There are more than a few reasons a wife demands a divorce from her husband. Sometimes it's a cheating husband. Sometimes it's an unfaithful wife. Extramarital affairs. Marriage of convenience. Other times it's because one of the two fell out of love and doesn't feel the need to continue the relationship.
In only a few cases, the reason can be because they fell too much in love with their partner. That's what happened to you.
Your husband, Kim Taehyung stood in front of you, shell-shocked at the bundle of papers that you presented to him. The bold letters "Divorce Decree" were printed on the top of the white sheet which followed a lot more words and then yours and his name in another bold format.
"What? I don't understand" Taehyung asked, cluelessly.
"I can't do this anymore. I've been continuously keeping up with the marriage ever since the first day while you're busy handling business or whatever that you do. I'm not the only one bound to this marriage and now I don't want to be the only one to keep dragging. I quit" you quietly said at last.
It hurts you deeply because you've fallen so much in love with your husband that at one point you were willing to keep everything near just for the sake of having him by your side. The emotional turmoil you felt 100 times during the 7 months of your marriage has nothing to do with what you are feeling now.
Even after putting 7 months into a meaningless marriage, all you get is disappointment and loneliness. It's not like you were never happy. You were. The initial weeks of the marriage felt like a dream with a new life to tend to, a new house to familiarize yourself with and a new routine to fall under.
It's after those weeks that the reality started crashing down like a thunderous downpour. You never imagined you'd be the one to ever say this to your husband. Never thought you'd become someone to demand a divorce but time has led you to such extremities.
Walking away from the living room, you walked back to your new bedroom. The one you've made your own after leaving Taehyung's. Leaving the papers in front of a confused Taehyung, you tried to find some much needed space in your bubble and soon the memories started giving you glances at your past 7 months with him.
Flashback
When your father asked you about Taehyung and proposed the marriage preposition, you were beyond ecstatic. You didn't take much convincing and in a month, you tied a knot with him. He was a hardworking guy. Very punctual to his work, super devoted to his company. And you liked all of those qualities.
He always slept after you and was always up before you as well. Before you could freshen-up and go downstairs for breakfast, he would already be gone. The same would be in the evening. He'd come back later to have dinner and most of the time doesn't even eat at home.
You tried everything. From making his favorite food to wearing his favorite color. You even forgot what you liked and only preferred his happiness above yours. Because that's what you were always told. To keep your husband above everything. Be the person worth it or not.
His worth, you realized after a few months, was that he didn't deserve any of it.
"I've made your favorite pizza, Taehyung. Should I serve it now or later?" You asked one day after he was surprisingly back early.
It was about 5 months of your marriage and by now, you've figured most of his interests, his likes and dislikes. And while you wanted to be the perfect wife to him by morphing yourself into his likes, he was as distant as the first day of marriage.
