Fear is a virus that can infect, weaken, not only fairies, but also entire dream worlds. It's a virus that takes away your voice... a demon that wraps itself around your neck like a lasso over a gallows and darkens your vision like grinning death it...
When I woke up, Taehyun was already gone. The room was empty as well as my wish that it was all just a hellish nightmare. It felt like the salt from my tears only dug the sorrow deeper into my heart and swollen cheeks. All of it felt so surreal, but there was no way to awake from this vivid dream.
I let the bitter teardrops soak into the pillow and reached for the horned plushie. It belonged to Huening Kai... he had to bring it here to assure me he and Tae are both alright... or at least alive.
I put it to my lips and tried to breathe properly.
The reality was that I have to go out of this room, face Soobin and act as naturally as possible.
... and that's exactly what I did. I got myself together, put a scarf around my neck and went to my greenhouse through the back door. As I thought... the heavy rain marred many of my greens and trees in our garden, but those hidden under the glass roof were completely safe and undamaged.
Soobin loved juicy vegetables and he also cared about his and general health a lot... as a healer and inner bloom fairy I really appreciated that and supported his daily handful of berries.
I picked the darkest ones and carefully put them into the large lettuce leaf... he would want to eat it later, anyway.
Then, just like when I went out, I quietly opened and closed the door on the way in... I almost messed it up, because of the adrenalin that hit my veins immediately, as I saw him sitting in the kitchen.
Soobin was lying on his arm put on the table... spaced out... looking at the full glass in front of him, while slowly moving it with his index finger. He didn't seem to notice me at all.
The glass was still closer to the edge... Rattle... Rattle. Holding my breath I remained invisible to him.
What's on his mind? He couldn't remember...
Rattle. Swoop.
I shot out my hand. A tentacle of a climbing plant caught the falling glass filled with my diluted potion. It was prepared for Soobin... to support my curse I put on him. It was impossible for him to figure it out.
Water fairy straightened up in surprise and brought the liquid back into the glass by a simple hand gesture. I rushed to him.
"Are you okay??" I asked while putting the potion back on the table.
"Of course," replied Soobin scratching his head in confusion, "it's just a drink."
His warm chuckle put me on ease. However, it was just a beginning of this uneasy masquerade.
I handed him the lettuce leaf full of berries and sat next to him.
"You're all so extra attentive today... I feel like the Sleeping beauty," he stated sheepishly, but seemed to enjoy it with a flavor of raspberries.
"You're enjoying it, huh? I was freaked out! You didn't wake up for a whole day and night, so you better drink and eat it all, Aurora," I masked my worries with a sharp tone and crossed my arms on my chest.
I released them only when Soobin drank the potion to the bottom. Then he glanced at me - satisfied?
I pouted.
"What were you even thinking about, Flower boy?"
Soobin's rare lips slightly opened, as he was searching for the answer before he blinked rapidly.
"Funny... I've got no clue. I guess I just zoomed out for a while," he chuckled again and opened his mouth.
I sourly grinned and landed some berries between his lips. This zooming out doesn't feel alright...
Suddenly, he planted a soft kiss on my fingertips... I almost heard my heart flutter. It could possibly shatter under his gentleness and make me cry again.
"But you don't seem to be fine either... may I help you?"
Ah damn... this care of yours, Soobin...
"I- No- Maybe later. Yes, sure... later. Do you know where Taehyun and Hyuka are?"
"Hah. These cuddly pixies went to the town as soon as they sensed you're awake. They didn't even bother to tell me why."
To the town?What are they up to?
Even Soobin made a disbelieving look. After a while he stood up to look out of the window.
"It seems that the storm was playing with our paradise... I should go and fix it," he sighed.
Looking at you, my sweet home...
You really have no idea how much needs to be fixed.
