Fear is a virus that can infect, weaken, not only fairies, but also entire dream worlds. It's a virus that takes away your voice... a demon that wraps itself around your neck like a lasso over a gallows and darkens your vision like grinning death it...
Huening Kai's strong wings easily glided through the air... my chest in his tight embrace, as he carried me to the place where he lost Yeonjun. There must be something...
"Land safely..."
I nodded lightly before Kai's arms let me jump down to the ground. My astral wings created a slight resistance so I could fall slower on my toes. I took a few steps until Kai landed as well.
My vision turned pitch black, only showing me energetic waves and spots. Pulsating veins of trees... lights of glowing flowers... a squirrel... and fireflies.
My mind eye closed and I ran to the car parked in the blooming bushes. The vehicle was surrounded by plenty of red flower heads with long stamens, resembling spiders. Even though they were masked pretty well and the ends of sticks were ostensibly glowing, I knew they are not from here.
"What are you going to do?" Kai asked a little bit anxiously. "The car is the only thing that left... I'm sure of it."
That definitelly can't be all...
"Did you really think I would leave it at that? I'll find Jun... I won't stop believe he's still... somewhere."
I observed the car for a moment... then I opened its front door. It was unlocked, the keys were still in the ignition... Kai must have been right, there was no time for Yeonjun to run away.
"So how can I help you?" I heard a tiny hopeful smile in Hyuka's offer.
"There must be a reason why the car didn't disappear...," I thought out loud to share it.
After that I looked at Kai to connect us, so that I don't appear cold to him. I didn't want something like yesterday to happen... I'll avoid it no matter what. I wouldn't stand if something happened to Hyuka as well.
I wrapped my pinkie around his.
"Remember how you told me about Yeonjun mentioning some mysterious spirit?"
Kai sighed and nodded biting his lip.
"I think... it possessed Beomgyu last evening," there was no gentler way to announce that.
The light fairy looked around the forest with a desperate grin, thinking that it must be some kind of joke.
"Wait wait- no way you're serious right now. Is he really okay? We left him there with Soobin all alone."
"I fought it in his subconscious... it was manipulating his body to kill me," I said it as calm as possible, but I still could feel the pressure on my Adam's apple. I gulped.
"Oh my Muse!!!" Kai put his free hand around my ear and looked straight into my eyes. I wanted to look away, but I had nothing more to hide so I tried to remain in his worried gaze.
"I am okay... It's fine, I beat it. I guess it can't possess a mind fairy... or at least not me."
"Stop babbling about the facts! You could have died, Taehyun."
We were immortal... but not invulnerable. Fairies are not violent. Well, usually.
"But I didn't... I'm alive," I assured him and squeezed his hand. "I know you're close to blaming yourself for loosing him, but we have to continue in finding the clues... even without Yeonjun. You are not responsible for his action, okay?"
My purple spark flew into Huening Kai's eyes and turned his irises into golden faith.
"Okay...," he exhaled and lovingly caressed my cheek before letting it go. Then he walked closer to the car and touched its glaze, as if it was painted with his unpleasant memories from the fateful night.
Sooner than he reached for the red spider flowers, I grabbed his wrist.
"Don't touch them. These are not from our world," I warned him... the flowers looked pretty poisonous to me.
Hyuka hissed and stepped closer to me.
"What does the spirit even want...?"
"I think it is a creature from other dimension... maybe even from another world. I don't know what its goal here is, but it obviously aims at us to divide us... pit us against each other... at best... to get rid of us."
"Yeonjun said that it knows how to save our dimension... that the spirit promised to show him the way, if he follows it alone."
"That's what I'm talking about. Maybe it really knows what to do, but think about it, Kai - the spirit allowed Yeonjun to take Soobin's visions, his Cassandra's curse... but then another curse was cast upon him... Yeonjun is gone... so are the prophecies and we can't even ask Soobin for help."
"First it checkmated our main pillars and then it used Beomgyu to attack you - its biggest threat...," Kai added to my theory.
"Exactly, it's a strategy."
"Well... but what about me? Why does it ignore me? I was with Yeonjun most of the time after all...," he wondered.
I sat down in the moss, recalling the memories of the last evening.
"Maybe it can't possess you either... thinking about it - I needed Beomgyu to trust me and our love, so I could expel the spirit... this way the light of your love and pure heart may act as your shield."
Quiet chuckle.
"If that's the case, I'll let you lead this fight... use me as your protection and assurance, Tyun...," he stated loyally and sat close to me, looking deeply into my eyes with his amorous look.
"You're already all of that," I chuckled too because of blush his certainty brought into my cheeks. "How do you make me shy even after such a long time?" I leaned towards him not too aware of it and ran my eyes over his enchanting face.
"I guess it's my charm..."
"Yeah..."
Even as the flowers of death bowed to us...
... with his lips on mine I felt more than alive.

Whatever... I really enjoyed writing this part... I was in rushshshssh, coz I couldn't write it yesterday because of translating &team oneshot and I also had to watch MV's on repeat to figure some things out... but I wrote 1/3 in the evening... 2/3 on the bus... and 3. third during my lunch break and work - pls don't tell this to my boss XDDD I hope this part gave you some good info and you enjoyed it just like I did x33 okay~ good night, sweethearts <333
