𝐃: Hey, I am Danielle, one of the founders and I'll be the one taking your winner's interview for Elysian Bio Awards. Can you start by introducing yourself?
𝐀: Hello I am Ara, I am a 06 liner and a pisces and I like designing. I am a college student with an Aerospace Engineering major. I also like writing stories and have a lot of hobbies like singing, dancing, painting etc.
𝐃: Wow that sounds so cool! I'm a Pisces as well and I must say that you're a person of many talents. And that includes bio designing, doesn't it? Especially since you did win our Elysian Bio Awards. How do you feel about that?
𝐀: You're a pisces too? That's cool.
And not really-
I do like bio designing a lot, I mean it is kind of a stress relief. It's probably something I do for fun. About winning, I would say I am so so happy, because there were so many talented people against me, and they are my friends too like Val, Vyaz, Iris, Ari, Ivy, who are very talented bio designers. I actually was surprised.I am happy the judges found mine good.
𝐃: Damn I get where you're coming from and things always come out better when you love what you're doing. And really? I judged one of your entries and I must say I'm kind of impressed. I do dabble in bio designing myself and the bio submitted, especially yours, really widened my horizon. Do tell what are your secrets to achieving such beautiful bios?
𝐀: Well, to be fair, I started designing two years ago when I was enormously bored in COVID. And I think I grew from there. I would use free site stuff and knowledge to design them, till I slowly started making my own designs. At one point I started making more designs, with different inspirations from pinterest, tumblr, but just twisted them, combined them, and kept the design in mind to make something new. I think it is just practice.
𝐃: I'll definitely keep that in mind be it designing or writing or whatever. That is just solid gold advice! Haha.
𝐀: I- thank you.
𝐃: Anyways, have you ever tried designing bios for others? I've never seen any of your designs before unlike some of the other participants.
𝐀: This is a funny one, because maybe you have seen my other account- dynamic_dream. In that one I have a shop too, it is closed now, and it had a lot of orders. But maybe you haven't seen it because only the short bio is one of my old designs. For the long and medium, I used new templates made after my shop was closed.
So to answer your question, yes, I have, I am in communities too, and I had many orders in my shop. And my friends, of course.
𝐃: Ooh that kind of explains it. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen your shop before...I'll be sure to check it out because your designs are really good. Don't worry, I swear won't steal them haha. Oh then do you also get that problem when you just don't know how to start designing a customer's bio?
𝐀: No, I think I have had my deal with plagiarism lol. And rarely for my shop because the customers chose the templates. However, for communities, when I was new, or even now, it's a bit hard, because I have to still think if my customer would like it. But in the beginning it was a lot, and now it is barely there.
𝐃: I get what you mean. I myself struggle with that sometimes. When designing for yourself, you know clearly what you what and what the end result should be, but with a customer, what you like might not be what they like so things are trickier. Do you then have any advice on how to tackle this?
𝐀: I think, believing in yourself is key. Trust yourself, you know designing, so you know how it is done. the forms for shops give an idea of what customers like, so follow that.
So believe, trust, and love your design, that's it.𝐃: You really are full of great advice, aren't you? I feel like I'm gaining so much treasure just by this interview haha. Besides believing in yourself and with the aid of fonts and symbols, we all need some inspiration from time to time though, don't we? So where do you get yours?
𝐀: Okay so I have been told from time to time I am blunt, blame my mbti for it, but to be honest, pinterest, tumblr, other designers who are my friends and their advice and opinions.
𝐃: Those are some really great sources! Friends will always be a valued source to many, though do you recommend any particular user or website on the internet to help guide beginners?
𝐀: I would say, search up pinterest for aesthetic bios. For fonts and symbols there are many websites, all of them equally helpful. Tumblr can help a lot too, as for users I had help from a book in Wattpad, but the account is no longer there so I cannot help.
𝐃: Alright, before we end off, do you have any other advice for our aspiring bio designers out there?
𝐀: Be creative, and always try to improve unless you are fully satisfied, listen to criticism since they help you grow and come back stronger. And try to find inspiration in little things in life. And practice makes perfect, always.
That will be all I think.𝐃: Very wise words. That's all I can say haha.
𝐀: Helpp, okay.
𝐃: Anyways, thank you so much for your time, Ara.
𝐀: Thank you too Danielle.
