Christmas break was fun. I spent most of the time with the twins, talking about pranks and ideas for their shop, I think even Peeves had a fun time. Professor Snape, who also stayed in the castle, spent some time teaching me a potion I asked him about. Lupins detention classes continued and he started teaching me non-verbal spells, which actually were pretty hard, but it was fun learning something new.
And then finally, Christmas morning. I don't know why I like Christmas so much; I don't have a family to spend it with, but my old friends at Durmstrang always made it fun.
I was quietly laying in my bed, enjoying the last minutes of sleep, when the door fling open.
"Skye, wake up" it was George, who jumped on my bed, followed by his other half, Fred. "Christmas morning, sleeping beauty, wake up!"
"5 more minutes"
"You've got presents!" "Yeah, in the common room" "come"
"Okay. Okay" I laughed as they both literally pulled me out of bed.
When we came in the common room, there were six piles of gifts. One for each of us. Harry Ron and Hermione were already unpacking. I heard them talking about a sweater or something.
"Looks like you've also gotten a gift from mom!" Fred have me a box from my pile.
"Why would your mother give me a gift? I've never seen her in my life"
"That's just how she is" Fred told me. He and George opened the exact same box, taking identical sweaters out. Both with the first letter of their name on it.
I opened the box, curious to find out what Mrs Weasley gave me. When I opened it, I saw that I also got a sweater. Mrs Weasley has send me an emerald green sweater with the first letter of my name. The rest of the box was filled with a dozen cookies.
"I love it" I put the sweater on straight away. "Where did she get it from?"
"Mom makes them herself" Fred started. "Every year she makes us a sweater!"
"The cookies and the sweater."
"That's really nice of her," I said as I tried the fudge, which was very tasty. "I should send her a thank you card!"
I looked at the other gifts I got. A couple of cozy socks from Blaise, some magical mascara that's supposed to make your eyes look bigger from Pansy, to my surprise I also got a gift from Draco; a bracelet with a small snake charm on it. Even Theo had sent me a gift, he gave me one of those Muggle cameras where you take a picture with it, and then it comes out right away. I took a group picture of all of us wearing the Weasley sweaters and made a mental note to later send it to Molly. The twins got me some candy, which I first thought was one of their prank candies, but it turned out to be actual candy and tasted pretty good. Even my friends from Durmstrang send me a gift. Victor included one of the pictures we took a couple of nights before the end of the school year. I love my new friend here, but I do miss them.
Harry got a new broom for someone, but no one knew from who. Hermione didn't like it, but I didn't care to be honest.
When I opened my last gift, I didn't see a note who it was from either. When I opened the small box, I saw a ring it in. It had this dark silver color and looked pretty old, but also very shine and clean, like it was well maintained. The ring was shaped like a snake around my finger, it reminded me of my house. Who could it be from? I put it around my finger and it was a bit big, so I put it around my index finger which was a perfect fit. I love it.
After opening all the gifts, we went down to the Great Hall, to find that the House tables had been moved against the walls, and that a single table, set for twelve, stood in the middle of the room. Professors Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Sprout, and Flitwick were there, along with Filch, the caretaker, who had taken off his usual brown coat and was wearing a very old tailcoat, I guess it are his 'nice clothes', so that cute. Turns out we were indeed the only students. Which should make the lunch pretty interesting. It's not every day that you have lunch with your teachers.
