A couple of days later we were all just chilling in the common room; Harry and Ron were talking about the fire bolt, the twins were talking about prank ideas and maybe starting a shop. I was just quietly reading my book, when suddenly Hermione walked in followed by McGonagall.

"So that's it, is it?" said Professor McGonagall beadily, walking over to the fireside and staring at the Firebolt. "Miss Granger has just informed me that you have been sent a broomstick, Potter. May I?" said Professor McGonagall, but she didn't wait for an answer before pulling the Firebolt out of their hands. She examined it carefully from handle to twig-ends. "Hmm. And there was no note at all, Potter? No card? No message of any kind?"

"No," said Harry blankly.

"I see . . . ," said Professor McGonagall. "Well, I'm afraid I will have to take this."

"W-what?" said Harry, scrambling to his feet. "Why?"

"It will need to be checked for jinxes"

'There's nothing wrong with it!" said Harry, his voice shaking slightly. "Honestly, Professor —"

"You can't know that," said Professor McGonagall, quite kindly, "not until you've flown it, at any rate, and I'm afraid that is out of the question until we are certain that it has not been tampered with. I shall keep you informed."

Professor McGonagall turned on her heel and carried the Firebolt out of the portrait hole, which closed behind her. Then came back within a second. "Before I forget. Miss Potter?"

I looked her with death in my eyes. "You're not my head of the house nor my guardian. If you need the ring, let someone else get it"

"If that's how you want it" McGonagall sighted and then walked back of.

Harry stood staring after her, Ron however rounded on Hermione.

"What did you go running to McGonagall for?"

Hermione threw her book aside. She was still pink in the face but stood up and faced Ron defiantly.

"Because I thought — and Professor McGonagall agrees with me — that that broom and ring were probably sent to them by Sirius Black! "

The fight between, mostly, Hermione and Ron continued for a while.

The twins went up my way. "Want to run out of here and get some snacks?" One of them asked.

"Sounds delightful"

The rest of the vacation was amazing. Ron, Harry and Hermione still were in some arguments, but not really on a fight so we did all sort of things together as a group. We went to Hogsmeade several times, one time some teachers joined us, which was pretty fun. We had plenty of snowball fights. Hermione and I read a book together, we both are fast readers so it was nice having someone to talk about a new book with.

Harry and the twins convinced me to let them teach me how to ride a broom, so we went to the quidditch field, but when I felled down for the sixth time, I found it enough and let them do their things. Harry and I actually talked several times, I now starting to like him.

I grew pretty font on those Gryffindors and found myself having a hard time going back to the Slytherin dorm right before vacation ended, however I was happy to see my friends that afternoon.

I walked in the Hall where the student just arrived from the train.

"Skye!" I heard Blaise yelling my name from the other side of the hall.

I run up to him and gave him a big hug. "I've missed you so much"

"How was break with the Gryffindors?" Blaise asked me.
