Eddy's POV
-
I changed into my armor and began my adventure. With my sword by my side and my bow on my back, I was more than ready to earn my riches. When I got to a small cabin, the sky roared with thunder, and it began to rain. I took shelter there as I looked around, seeing no one was here, but there wasn't much to take as far as gems, weapons, potions, or food. This place looked pretty abandoned.

Once it was over, I made my way to a small town where I got some food in me. One of the maidens caught my eye. I thought she was cute and was about to make a move on her before I heard someone nearby mutter, "She ain't your type, boy. Best you keep your hands to yourself."

I looked at him, seeing an old man before I looked at his daughter again. "Girl's grown, ain't she?" I asked as he shook his head. "Barely your age, boy," he barked before he coughed. Someone else came by him and said, "You really shouldn't push her so hard, Martin. She should be a free bird. If she's gonna love a nobody like him, then so be it."

I rolled my eyes as I took a swig of my ale. "Who are ya to judge me?" I barked at her as she looked at me. "Riley Rose, a future bard. Who are you? A nameless nobody?" She asked as some others around us laughed. My face heated up as I couldn't find anything to insult her with. "Whose a bard these days? No one needs ya!" I barked as she rolled her eyes. "The world needs bards, kid. No one needs another worthless adventurer!" She said.

"I'll be the best one, you'll see! You'll remember the name, Eddy!" I said as she laughed. "Yeah, right! No one will miss you if you die to some drauger!" So many people laughed. I got up and walked to her. "Fight me, then! A hundred gold says I can wipe that smug look off your face!" I barked. She smiled as she picked out a hundred pieces. "Now, will you really hit a girl?" She said as I was ready to fight.

When we both began feeling fatigued after an hour, I beat her into submission as everyone rooted her on. Once I won, I demanded my money as I drew blood. I looked at everyone as they looked horrified. I squatted down as she couldn't look at me. "No more! I - I surrender!" I stood up as I held out my hand to her. She looked scared, as if I would beat her worse.

"C'mon, stand up," I said as she took my hand but refused to look at me. "Here's your money. You can leave now and never talk about this again," she said as she gave me the money. I looked at it as I did beat her fair and square. It didn't satisfy me. I beat a bard in front of the people she knew. That had to hurt whatever ego she had.

Riley was being consulted by the man she was talking to earlier, only for him to go harder on her than I did going hand-to-hand with her. "How could you let a nobody defeat you? You're no daughter of mine! Begone!" Everyone saw how angry he got as we could tell how hurt she was. "I'm fine without being your daughter. That doesn't bother me. You are no father of mine! May you die without your perfect child, Margo, next to you!" She spat as she left.

I followed her out as I saw her enter a rather small shack. When she came back out, she saw me nearby. "Let me just apologize for calling you a nobody. As you and everyone else saw, I'm also a nobody. Can we forgive and forget?" She asked as I nodded. I wasn't phased by being called that. I was called much worse when I grew up.

"I forgive ya. Just don't let it happen again, alright?" I said as I looked at her as she nodded. She turned to leave as I asked, "Where ya plan on going, anyway?" She looked at me as she said, "The college for bards in Solitude. Do you mind walking me there?" I shrugged as she sighed. "Then this is where we part. Hope our paths cross again one day, hopefully not with me at the end of your blade." She turned once more and left.

About two years later, I went back to the same tavern as I had before. I remembered beating Riley here in hand-to-hand combat. I sat and got a drink before listening to the music the bard was playing. I got to thinking about Riley and her adventure to becoming a bard. I wonder if she was successful in her endeavors.
