Eddy's POV
-
I was born and raised a human boy, like most of us were. When I got older, I was playing outside in the dark when a lanky, dark male looked at me. He saw me and smiled as he gave me a rose. Confused, I stood up to meet his gaze.

"I'm not afraid of you!" I bellowed out.

"Oh, you aren't? Well, that's good. Soon, you'll be one of us!" He showed his fangs as I tried running back into my mother's arms, but to no avail. I was bitten and taken away, never to see her again.

My mother was ill, you see. She had an illness that would kill her before I became of age. I was in regret of my decision that I made that day. If I only went inside when I was warned, I would've been safe. I would still have my mother, for I am her only child, her only son.

I haven't seen her since that day. Was she alive still? Only time would tell.

A few months later, my new family showed me a newspaper clipping, showing of the obituaries. One of which was of my mother. She died from her illness only a few short months. I - I had never got to say goodbye to her or to thank her for her sacrifices or to apologize that I was so difficult to deal with in my youth.

This would be the day I'll never forget for as long as I'm this monstrosity.

When I turned thirteen, the village had heard of my disappearance and others like me and stormed the castle we resided in. My stepmother took me and led me to the cellar and hid me to keep me safe. It was a coffin, but she assured me I would be safe and to take care of myself. I never saw them again after that. I just heard the screams of them, and I panicked.

I woke a few hours later, it still being moonlight. First my mother, now my vampire family.. I lost everything, including my humanity. I can never go back. Yet, I returned, only to see the place I resided in burning to the ground as the villagers all cheered. There was a girl about my age at the time, who was my age when that monster gave me a rose.

I found one and saw the girl still lingering around as she was saddened by what her village had done. She was so young, so innocent, to why they did such a thing. When she saw me, I only presented her with a rose. I gave it to er as an offering, a sign of peace between me and her. It came to me only tin that moment. But could I? She's so young.. I could never..

I was only her age when I was bitten and taken away from my mother. She ran back to her village as it became a ritual between us that we'd meet here, with the ashen remains of the castle they destroyed.

When she became older, about thirteen, I resided in a dark cabin, somewhere secure and safe for now. I took her there after crafting a potion to make her lose consciousness only for a short time in small doses.

When she woke, she cursed me. I understood why, as waking in an abandoned place, you have no idea how you arrived. There was not something she suspected from someone like me.

"Don't you get it? I am protecting you as they had protected me! Why can't you see that?" I asked as she was trying to find a way out. I felt a longing for this girl, like I needed her and would be lonely without her. Almost as if she was a cure to the madness, and if I didn't have her with me, I'd simply perish without her.

"Those people are monsters, you hear me? Monsters, and you're - oh no, you're one of them? Stay away from me! As soon as I get out of here, the whole village will find you!" She barked as eventually, she found her way out. She took off running into the night as she yelled. I didn't bother chasing her.

I fled as soon as I heard the villagers approach and saw lit torches. I stayed nearby as she held a pitchfork in hand. I thought about staging my death so they would have some peace or I'd try to make amends with the village. Either one would be my funeral.
