Summer, 1992; The Phoenix

This time of day in the Astronomy tower was always Albus's favourite. Just as the sun hit the edge of the world, releasing a heavenly, golden glow on all of Hogwarts. It was quiet and peaceful, especially since the children and most of the staff had left.

"What do you know that I don't?" The bird looked at him and then outside and then back at him, though Albus knew he wasn't as innocent as the phoenix was making himself out to be.

"I can tell when you're up to something" Albus persisted, stoking the feathered head of the magnificent bird. Seeing as the phoenix was not giving up his secrets, Albus relinquished, sighing as he looked out to the horizon.

The mystery of Ember Swan only kept growing and Albus Dumbledore was not sure whether he should keep her close as an ally or destroy her whilst he still had the chance...
