I shuddered as I came back to reality, what happened that night was something I wouldn't forget for the rest of my life, it was the day when I lost all the innocence left in me.

I glanced at the front row and saw David listening intently to the teacher, of course he would, he had nothing on his mind like I do.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my reflection against the window, and it showed all signs of unhappiness in my life. My red hair pulled in a ponytail, my brown eyes shallow and full of pain and my curvy body that Blaise has to comment on every now and then.

It has been three months to that incident and I have been with Blaise for four months and since that time, David became more and more persistent to talk to me, why can't he get the memo and leave me the hell alone? Because, frankly, every time he talks to me, I get beaten up by Blaise, why? Because of the whores who want David spread nasty rumors about me and guess what? It's all my fault.

I sighed, and wondered how my life turned upside down all of a sudden, a few months ago, I was happily settled in with my parents and my six-months-old brother, tommy, I didn't get to see him or play with him like a sister would, I don't think I will ever get to see him growing up.

"Miss. Hanley," Mr. Gates asked

"Yes?"

"Care to share what's troubling you?"

"No."

Mr. Gates has always been suspicious of Blaise and I because he knows that I live with Blaise and every time I turn out bruised or hurt, he quickly knows that it was Blaise. He told me once that he has intended on calling the police but I refused immediately knowing that nothing can keep an angry Blaise from finding me.

I have never been more relieved from the sound of the bell as I was now, I needed to get away from all the stares coming from the class, especially David. I quickly grabbed my bag and headed towards the door, but then no one can have such bad luck as me, can they?

"Miss Hanley, can I have a word with you please?"

"Okay."

Mr. Gates waited until there was only me and him in the room, the he said "I can't take this anymore Claire, I know he's abusing you now more than ever, don't try denying that."

"I know that you know, but please don't say anything."

"Claire, you've been in the hospital five times in the past three months, this is very serious."

"No it's not, he just gets temper tantrums sometimes."

"I wouldn't call an everyday thing sometimes."

"It's not everyday." It's every hour.

"It is and don't sweat over it Claire, I'm scared that you might end up dead one day."

"I promise you it won't reach to that point."

"You can't even guarantee that."

"I will if you don't interfere."

"I'm still your teacher Claire."

"And I still have rights."

"Not when it comes to physical abuse and god know mental abuse of my student."

"How did you know that I was in the hospital?"

"I have my sources."

BANG! And a sound of an animal growl ripped through the walls of the room. My heart skipped while I tried to take cover from the blow. "Idiot." Mr. Gates muttered and I stared at him in confusion, what is he talking about?
