I was next to her in less than a second, holding her in my arms, whispering soothing words in her ear and careful not to hurt her at the same time.
"I'm so sorry." She said in between her uncontrollable sobs.
"For what?" I asked confused.
"I shouldn't have told you to leave in the woods, I should have let you protect me, but I couldn't, I never thought that he would reach this level of abuse." And she began crying again, burying her face in my chest, making this position the only thing keeping me from going after that motherfucker's throat.
"You were scared Claire, don't ever blame yourself, Blaise is a sick bastard and he WILL get what he deserves in one way or the other."
"He's probably out of town by now."
"He wouldn't leave his pack." Even if he did, he has to tell them where he was going. I think her mental breakdown is starting to ease off as she moved her head to rest it between my neck and shoulder.
The door suddenly opened which made Claire sit up right, wincing as she scanned the place for the source of noise, the expression she had was funny to watch but very sad to feel.
"I am extremely sorry Clair, I apologise, I didn't think that that would startle you." My dad's voice came from the doorway, Claire relaxed again and rested her head on my shoulder but didn't say anything.
"It's fine dad, nothing happened." Although I was uncomfortable with my mate just getting hurt by his carelessness but it's not like it was intentional plus, the only two things I can really think of is keeping my mate safe and kill Blaise.
"I just wanted to let you know that the police didn't find Blaise at home, they found only some clothes in his wardrobe, he must've ran away quickly, I'm sorry."
"I told you." Her voice was both scared and brave, this made me want to find him sooner.
"Did you tell them to search in the pack house?" I asked dad.
"I can't tell them all that, but the few people from our pack who are working there are already on the move." He replied.
"I bet he is there, hiding in a hole behind that wall of their's," I said disgustingly, of course he's going to hide from me, he knows that I will come for him. "I will catch him Claire, don't worry," she didn't respond. "Claire?" She was fast asleep.
"Leave her son, it must be the drugs doing their effect."
"What are we going to do?"
"We are going to search everywhere for him, you're right he wouldn't go far, I mean, he is attached to her in every way, I doubt he will leave her like that." The word 'attached' scared me, I mean he thinks she belongs to him, of course he is going to try and take her back.
'Not on my watch' I thought.
"I'm staying with Claire for a while, then I'm going to come with you okay?"
"Son, I know how bad you want to kill him but you can't leave her, I'll make sure that he is bought alive." I hated the fact that he is right, like, all the time.
"Fine, but when you find him. He's mine."
* * * * * *
I sat down on the chair next to Claire's bed although as much as I wanted to be next to her in bed, I couldn't afford hurting her more so I sat and held her warm hand.
After a few minutes, she was sweating really bad and I could recognise the tears coming out of her eyes as they mixed with the sweat. Watching her like this was excruciating, if I could stop her dreams I would, but I can't and I hate my life because of it.
