We follow her into the pool, where...Roberto is engulfed in flames and screaming. Holy shit. Fire. That's why Roberto never told us about his powers. He has fire powers. He's...some form of pyrokinetic. Pyrokinetics are some of the most dangerous mutants out there when they can't control their powers.
Reyes uses a pool tool to shove him back into the pool, and smoke fills the room. As it clears, I notice Roberto just evaporated half of the pool.
"Damn..." Illyana coughs as she walks in, stopping right next to me and waving the smoke out of her face. "What happened here?" She notices Roberto staring at her, and...he looks scared. "What?"
I watch as Reyes shoves his clothes towards him, and all of us step out into the hallway so he can put them back on. I scratch the back of my neck, turning to look at Illyana.
"Why was he looking at you like that?" I ask, and she shrugs, making a face.
"Because he's..." Her voice trails off as Roberto walks out, anger erasing any fear I had seen on his face...but I can still see it in his eyes. He walks over to Reyes, and all of us watch him as he grabs her phone from her pocket and begins to walk down the hall to the only doors we can get out through.
"What's the code, huh?" He snaps at Reyes as we follow after him.
"Give me my phone back!" She yells at him as he bangs against the very locked, very strong doors. "I am in charge here!"
"You're not in charge of shit!" He yells right back at her, slowly walking up the stairs so he's right in front of her. The rest of us stay a few feet away, except for Sam. Sam is the closest. "Did you not see what happened, huh? Illyana tried to kill me!"
"It wasn't me." Illyana snaps, crossing her arms as she leans against the wall.
"Roberto...Illyana was in her room." Reyes corroborates her story.
"Bullshit!"
"There was nobody in the pool but you!"
He's quiet for a moment, but stays staring at her. "Did you see what I saw, huh? We're trapped in here with demons, and you want us to stay trapped!"
"Give it back!" Reyes shoves him back slightly as she tries grabbing her phone back from him, and he shoves her back completely.
"What's the code?" He shouts. He's still holding her phone.
"Hey, Berto! Chill!" Sam steps in front of Reyes. I love his good morals, but Reyes isn't the right person to use his good morals on.
"Chill nothing. I'm calling the cops and getting out of here."
"You're not going anywhere!"
"Yeah, says who?"
"Says your doctor!"
Illyana scoffs at her words, and starts walking over. "Bullshit...You're not a doctor." She's right in front of Reyes, right in her face. "I've known men like you. Men who like to keep children trapped in cages. I've known them...and I've killed them."
Reyes looks from Illyana to Roberto. "She wasn't in the pool." Back at Illyana. "But I know what you did to me. You're gonna help the others clean this mess."
"In your dreams."
Completely uncalled for, Reyes grabs Illyana by the arm and starts dragging her down the stairs and right into solitary. Sam grabs me when I try to go after her, pulling me back and making me face him. Roberto, Dani and Rahne are all looking at us. I meet each of their eyes.
"Roberto, we all want to get out." I look at Berto, glancing at Sam. "But taking her phone isn't going to do anything to help any of us."
"What, do you think you know everything?" Berto snaps at me, looking me up and down.
"I never said that, Roberto. But I do know more than you."
"The fuck does it matter?"
"It matters because pissing off the doctor that can and will kill us if we disobey her and her superiors isn't going to do anything to get us out of here."
"Why the fuck should I listen to you, huh? Your sister just tried to ki-"
"You keep my sister's name out of your mouth." I step closer to him, looking him up and down. "She was in her room, Roberto. My room, too."
"Was Illyana telling the truth, Raiya?" Dani steps up, breaking the tension between Berto and I with her words. I turn to face her, and Sam hooks his arm around my waist. "About killing...men like Reyes?"
"Why would she lie about that? We killed men like Reyes together, Dani." I glance down the hallway as Reyes speed walks towards us again, offering Dani a small smile. "Believe me when I tell you that we won't hesitate to do it again."
