Sebastian roamed the streets. He had just left the bar his friend owned and was looking for a bite to eat before he wandered home. It was just getting dark and Liam was probably waiting for him and he wanted to surprise him with a little food they could share during their movie.
He entered a small Mexican restaurant he'd remembered being good when they'd tried it before. They didn't eat out often but after the week they both had at his practice, he figured a reward was in place. He ordered the both of them some burritos and little side dishes and paid and was out the door in fifteen minutes.
By then, four whole new scents had permeated the area. Yes, he was used to this in an ever changing city but one in particular stood out, it made his wolf claw at the recesses of his mind, begging to be let out.
Confused, and a little put off, Sebastian rounded the corner and went into the alley behind the very restaurant he had ordered from. There, the scent hit him full force. It smelled delicious, it smelled of salt and oranges, but it was drowning in the metallic scent of blood, and a hint of ammonia, common for rouges.
Sebastian's wolf finally won and clawed forward, allowing his bones to crack and reshape into his second form. A fierce growl rippled out his throat. Three heads turned towards him and away from the wolf his essence was being drawn to.
His human mind seemed to catch on this fact, his mate. He would need to touch him for sure but it wasn't Liam who smelled strongly of coffee and his own fruit mixture- no he had a second mate.
The three stray dogs approached him and he growled out his warning. After a few steps too close he bit into two and then all three of them ran off.
When he looked to the end of the alley again, the giant form of his supposed mate was no longer there. He was satisfied he was able to save him and that he ran from the danger, but why hadn't he protected himself? The hazel eyed wolf had just lay there. Maybe he hasn't had proper training. I need to find him.
With that, he turned on his heels and headed for the end of the alley, hoping that the wolf wasn't running from him. He made it down a couple streets thankfully unnoticed, not that he was concerned about being seen right now when the wolf was injured. He blanched at the pools of blood he found and wondered how the wolf had already gotten so far. As he followed the twists and turns Sebastian realized it was slowly looking familiar.
When he reached the stoop of his practice his hands fluttered around the bloody body unceremoniously. Oh my god. Please be okay.-
-Okay. Focus, focus. Yes, he's your mate, yes, he's injured, but you need to focus and help him.
His brain and his wolf were screaming at him, all the same, but it was jumbled in a cloud of worry instead of coherent directions. He picked up his mate, noting the faint tingling and relying on that to clear some of the anxiety clouding his brain as he took him inside.
