Holy Shit

Jasper whimpered, the scent of coffee and fruit emitting from the man. He smelled delectable.

The noise from the wolf immediately garnered the man's attention away from the paperwork in hand.

"Holy shit." All the man could do was stare at the creature who seemed to pierce his soul with its eyes. "You're awake."

"Umm... Brandon? Do you know where Sebastian went?" He continued, looking down at his clipboard.

Brandon, the secretary, quickly rushed into the room. "Oh yes, sorry Liam. Sebastian said he was heading to see his family, some emergency or other. Yesterday the animal control people got a call about a wolf by the side of the road from someone who figured it got hit. They were going to do an X-ray" Ending his sentence and finally ordering his papers and notes, Brandon left the room to the short blonde man.

"So you're my mate?" Liam asked, effectively surprising Jasper, Liam smelled entirely human, he wouldn't be able to detect the bond until they touched, and usually humans didn't even understand if they did.

Humans knew of the existence of shifters, wolves not being the only ones. Shifters were often blessed with soulmates, a person to spend the rest of their life with. It was a survival tactic to make sure shifters reproduced and were able to carry on their lineages. The result, however, was surprising seeing as the man before him was human, not part of his species, it would be impossible to impregnate each other.

However the scent and the way he was drawn to him was fact, this man was undeniably his.

"Sebastian told me. He's my- well, our other mate." He didn't look at all pleased by this information.

Jasper was stunned at the information, he had two mates? And he found both of them already.

Another whimper released from Jasper, he wanted to go to the man, he wanted to be out of the cage. He wanted to meet Sebastian.

In that moment, Jasper wished he could shift, convey his feelings and desires and hopes with the man in front of him. But two things kept him stuck. Instead of the human side of his head being in control, all reason was driven by the wolf, it was beaten into him, lycanism. Even when he was rarely in human form it was still the eyes of his wolf looking through. He was born a regular two souled spirit like most shifters, but that man made them fuse into one. It stressed both human and wolf, but he didn't know if or how to reverse it. The second reason was fear. Fear of what the past had done to him. His human side was weak, helpless with neither fang nor claw to defend itself.

I don't think the words would even form properly if I tried to speak. When was the last time he spoke? It was made understood by him long ago that no matter what words spilled from his mouth, plead nor threat, would free him. Even if he did, eventually he became the lycan they needed, a soldier. He hadn't touched his human form in years.

Bringing himself out of his thoughts, he realized the man stood in front of his cage with a catchpole. He bared his teeth but he bit back a growl, he didn't want the man to be afraid of him.

"I don't want to have to use this. But you are still a wolf." He shuffled awkwardly in front of the cage. "Can you please shift back?"

Liam was surprised when the eyes of the wolf met his. They were beautiful. Amber. He felt drawn to them, to the creature. It shook its massive head in response. He sighed, he didn't want to do this. Liam was even more surprised as the creature easily let him slide the pole into the cage, the wolf's eyes not once leaving his body. He slipped the loop around its neck, and tightened it as much as he dared.

He knew that this wolf had a human somewhere inside it, Sebastian himself had said as much, and he knew Sebastian would never put him in danger. But this wolf looked entirely too wild. The eyes that followed him did not look human.

Gaining enough confidence and energy, he slowly opened the door to the cage. As soon as it cracked open he expected the beast to rush forward, bracing his arms for the brute force. He was once again surprised, seemingly for the millionth time that day, that the wolf remained where it was, only beginning to move when the door was open enough for it to slip out.

Liam pulled the beast lightly, keeping his stance rigid and a good distance away from the supposedly tame animal.

The wolf huffed, seemingly in amusement and light annoyance as he moved slowly with it towards the scale in the corner. After it hopped on, he noted the weight to write down later as he tugged it lightly again towards the table in the room over.

Touch me. Jasper had never thought something so desperately, wanting to be understood. Wanting to have a way out.

He jumped onto the table, his body protesting from the running he had been doing the past several days but not stopping him from functioning completely. Besides the lame leg he had had for years was particularly acting up. The man looked bewildered at him, surprised.

Touch me. He waited patiently as the catchpole was replaced with a leash. Like that would stop me, if I wanted to hurt you. The man gathered more papers and a computer, glancing every few seconds to make sure the wolf hadn't moved.

Finally all situated, Liam took out a stethoscope, hands slowly approaching the side of the wolf, testing its boundaries.

Sparks. Where the man touched him sparks erupted, he shivered and finally allowed himself to let out another whimper.

Liam gasped, quickly pulling his hand away and looking towards the eyes of the creature. "Well, I can't deny that." He muttered.

"It's exactly how it feels with Seb."

"Holy shit," Liam heard himself say for the upteenth time that day, "holy shit."
