While Cash and I were running all over the woods, desperately trying to find Jia, something caught my attention. A wet dog scent filled the air as confusion and anticipation grew while I attempted a mind link with Cain.

"Cain, do you smell that? It's like a wet dog," I exclaimed, staring at him, hoping he would confirm my suspicion.

"Why are you mind linking?" he asked, his curiosity evident.

"I don't know, but I feel like we're not too far from them," I said, sniffing the air, trying to catch any lingering traces of the scent. Cain's eyes widened, a playful excitement taking over.

"Oh, your werewolf abilities are awakening," he exclaimed, unable to contain his joy, jumping up and down like an excited child. I shushed him immediately, shooting him a quick look, realizing that we might be under observation by some pack members.

Ignoring the potential danger, I continued to sniff the air, following the faint scent trail. It led me to a particular area in the woods. As I focused on pinpointing the source, my head suddenly throbbed with intense pain. In an instant, everything went black.

My consciousness felt as if it had been swallowed by darkness, leaving me disoriented and vulnerable. The world around me ceased to exist, and unknown forces lurked in the shadows.

Despite my uncertainty, Jia's safety was at stake. I couldn't give in to despair.

I woke up in a cage, feeling confused and trapped. The walls were closing in, triggering my claustrophobia.

A familiar voice spoke near me as I hammered on the cage to escape. My eyes saw Cain struggling and whimpering in the cage. I grabbed his body and shook it, eager to comprehend.

Whoa, what's going on?" he asked, sitting up and looking around in confusion. he began screaming at the top of his lungs, his fear palpable.

Trying to calm him down, I asked, "What's the matter, Cain?" His words stumbled out, revealing his discomfort with confinement. "I don't enjoy feeling confined in closed spaces," he stuttered.

"I bet you went through something awful," I said, stroking Cain's smooth hair, remembering his aid.

He stared at me in anguish. He said he suffered abuse because werewolves killed or kidnapped his sister.

Curious, I said, "What does your sister have to do with you getting mistreated?"

With a heavy sigh, he sat up, distancing himself from me. "You see, my whole family refused to give me blood for months," he confessed, trembling. My curiosity piqued, I couldn't help but ask, "Why would they do that? And how old were you?"

"I was only five years old when my mother called me a bastard child," he said, tears streaming down his face.

Seeking to lift his spirits, I proposed, "Do you want me to teach them a lesson? I can beat them up!"

Before Cain could respond, a deep voice interrupted us. In front of us was a man in his forties with salt-and-pepper hair, a beard, and striking green eyes. Despite the tense situation, I couldn't help but notice how handsome he was.

Shaking off my thoughts, I demanded, "Get us out of this cage!" Banging on the bars twice for emphasis.

The man laughed. "Listen here, vampire. We're going to kill you once we're done with the Asian girl," he sneered, walking away.

I cried out, "Give Jia back to me unless I'll rip your heart out!" My anger grew, but I recognized Cain and I were useless against them.

We need a plan before they return to harm us. What should we do?
