"The calm"
season 01, episode 11

Berlin was happy. For the first time since they got to earth, for the first time ever, she was genuinely happy. She didn't think happiness was ever gonna be a possibility for her. Especially not with them constantly on the verge of dying or being at war.

Berlin stood in the meat tent with Octavia, not lifting a finger, as per Bellamy's request. A smile on her face was evident making Octavia raise her eyebrows as her friend. "Okay, what the hell's going on here?" She asked confused and a little worried for the girl.

Berlin looked up at Octavia, who looked at her like she was scolding the girl, and shook her head. "Can't a girl just be happy?"

Octavia snorted at her question. "She can but considering everything going on, it's weird. Spill. What's going on with you? You've been like this for the past two days since we all got infected." Octavia widened her eyes and leaned forward. "Are you on the verge of like a mental breakdown? It's cool if you are but a warning would be nice."

"O!" Berlin chuckled and shoved her friend a little bit as Octavia sent her a smile. "Bellamy told me he loved me." Octavia couldn't help but make a 'o' face as she tried to process the girls words.

"Wait, Bell told you he loved you?" Berlin just nodded her head. "He said it first?" Another nod. "Wow."

"Is that a good wow or a bad wow?" Berlin asked biting her lip a little anxiously. She knew that Octavia was more than supportive of her and Bellamy but she also wanted to be sure that Octavia was genuinely okay with the thought of them. She valued her opinion and it meant so much to her that she was gonna be okay with this.

"More of an, about damn time, kinda wow." Octavia laughed as Berlin let out a relieved sigh.

"Let's get this party smoking." A guy said as he walked in from behind the two girls. He threw a couple logs into the firing making it a little too big.

"You don't want the fire too big." Octavia told him, glancing back at him. "So maybe just try to knock it down with some wet leaves."

"Get that from your boyfriend? Grounder pounder?" He asked as Berlin shot a glare his way.

"She's right. A hot fire isn't gonna preserve the meat as well." Murphy said as he trailed behind to help the girl with the meat.

"You can't take the heat, get out of the smokehouse." He said to Murphy, "Should be kissing our asses for being allowed back into this camp. Just keep working."

"You're brother couldn't get you a better job?" Murphy asked Octavia. "I would think anything would be better than working in the meat furnace."

"Oh, probably. That just means someone else would have to do it." She said as she walked past him, not looking his way.

Berlin eyes widened as one side of tent went up in flames. "Guys! Fire!" She warned them as Octavia instantly grabbed Berlin's hands and the three left the tent, coughing slightly from inhaling the smoke. Soon enough the whole thing was going up in flames.

Bellamy rushed over to Berlin and Octavia and leaned down to look at them. "Are you guys okay?" They both nodded as Bellamy rested his hand on Berlin's back as she coughed.
