"Survival of the fittest."
season 2, episode 10

Bellamy and Lincoln both walked through the forest, dressed in grounder attire as they headed to the tunnels. "Okay. So we make it to the intake door without any of the real Reapers seeing us. What happens then?" Bellamy asked Lincoln, who had been smearing blood over his face and mouth in order for the reapers to believe he was one of them.

"I kill everyone and you slip inside." Lincoln tells him, plain and simple. "Limestone." Bellamy takes a pouch out of his pocket and hands it over to Lincoln, the grounder smearing white paint across his face. "Let's go. We have a lot of ground to cover before dark."

Bellamy speaks up as he and Lincoln continue walking. "Hey. I need to know what happens after the intake door."

"They remove your clothes, blast you with boiling water, and douse you with something that burns even worse." Lincoln explains to him. "From there, we were sorted. The others were tagged harvest. I was tagged Cerberus, turned into a Reaper."

"Cerberus, 3-headed dog that guards the underworld." Bellamy nodded as Lincoln turned his head to look at him but Bellamy was quick to explain. "My mom read mythology to us all the time. Octavia loved it. You're good for her. You made her strong."

Bellamy gave a side glance to Lincoln but the dark skinned man didn't look his way. "She was already strong."

"Hey, I need to ask you something." Bellamy began as he stopped walking, causing Lincoln to stop and turn to look at him. "You protected my sister before you even knew her. Why?"

Lincoln slowly stepped forward towards Bellamy as he thought back to when he was a kid. "When I was a boy, I saw a ship fall from the sky like Raven's. The man inside was hurt, his body broken. I couldn't get him out."

"Suicide by Earth. I heard the stories in the guard. I just didn't know they were true." Bellamy shrugged a little bit as he shook his head.

"I brought him food, water. I didn't speak the enemy's language yet. So I couldn't understand him but I wanted to. So on the third day, I told my father. He made me kill him. The world has been trying to turn me into a monster for as long as I can remember." Bellamy wasn't sure what to say to Lincoln's story but Lincoln wasn't looking for an answer. "Let's keep moving."

The two began walking again but this time it was Lincoln who was asking Bellamy questions. "Let me ask you something, why are you doing this and risking your life when you have a girl back home that loves you?"

Bellamy shifted his eyes away from Lincoln as he sighed. Berlin hadn't spoke to him all night, she just lied there with her eyes closed and let them plan out everything. When Bellamy left this morning, Berlin was already gone so he couldn't say goodbye, which is what he thought she would want. "What am I supposed to do? Sit back and let my people die?"

"I'm just saying, anyone could have been the inside man in mount weather, yet you decided it should be you." Lincoln glanced back at the man, "you do know that there's a chance that you won't walk out of there, right? Then she's gonna lose you all over again." Bellamy said nothing as he processed the man's words. "I guess I just find it odd."

"Find what odd?" Bellamy asked with confusion lacing his tone.

"You tortured me when Berlin's life was on the line, when she dying from when I stabbed her, you were ready to do anything just for her to wake up. Now, you're walking into a very possible suicide mission and you expect her to just be okay with it. So, yeah, seems odd that you chose yourself to do this."
