I get a kick out of the blue, intelligent, bumbling, egomaniacal alien! I adore him so much. Here is the first chapter. The second one will be published soon.

Heavy Spring Rain crashed against the streets of Metro City! Megamind and Roxanne were in another heated argument. She had been offered a better job in a different city. But when she broke the news to him almost a week ago, Megamind grew frantic. He loved Metro City with his entire being. He even thought Roxanne would be permanently involved in the future he had envisioned!

Now the rain pelted against the glass window in sync with Megamind's beating heart. He was deeply wounded. The woman he loved so much was slowly starting to consider the job. The reporting company that offered the job was waiting for her reply.

Megamind sat across from Roxanne in the warm foyer. The fireplace crackled with warm flames of deep red and bright oranges. He was silently thinking over his next words before uttering them. Roxanne was in the position where she could be pushed over the edge in the direction towards considering the job. "Couldn't you get a better paying job here in Metrocity?"

Roxanne peers up at Megamind from underneath her dark lashes. She loved Megamind with her whole heart, and she even tried talking him into leaving the city with her; but ever since he became one of the good guys, Megamind found a new love in his role of being a hero. A good guy.

Roxanne loved Megamind's heart! He spent as much of his free time by helping the citizens of Metro City rebuild some of the buildings and cleaning up the streets when he wasn't keeping the city safe or spending time with her; as he possibly could. Megamind was gentle, lovable, caring, very humorous and quirky; very protective, sensitive, empathetic, sympathetic and very handsome. He wanted the best for her just as she wanted the best for him. But Metro City was the home he always knew. And Roxanne could not ask him to leave.

The first time Roxanne had tried asking Megamind to leave with her, hurt had flashed across his face as if he had been slapped! He couldn't leave. But she couldn't stay, either. Roxanne needed a fresh start. And the offered job was what she needed. "No. The job I currently have is the only job in this town that pays really well."

Megamind's face twisted with sadness; reflecting heartbreak his heart painfully protruded from the depths of his soul. Bowing his head, he stood from the chair and walked over to the fireplace. Lifting an arm above his head, Megamind rested his arm against the mantle above the fireplace; other hand resting on his hip.

Digging two fingers into the pocket of his pants, he pulled a gold band from the depths of the pocket and set it atop a nearby end table. "I thought we would be spending the rest of our lives together! I was looking forward to calling you my wife."

Roxanne felt tears fall down her face! Having her heart ferociously ripped out was never fun! And she hated doing that to the man she loved with her whole heart! However; apart from the job offer, she had a deep sense she and Megamind weren't meant to be together — no matter how much she wanted them too be! The deep sense was one of those deep feelings that never went away; a strong nudge informing her something was going to happen, and Roxanne needed to step aside. As much as it hurt, Roxanne knew if she stayed, she would be delaying the course needing to take place.

Getting to her feet, Roxanne walked up behind the man she loved so much and wrapped her arms around his torso; resting flat her palms against Megamind's abdomen, his muscles flexing from her touch. The muscles in his back flexed against the side of Roxanne's face. She didn't need to look at him to see he had bent his head to rest against his arm; tears falling down his face. "It hurts me to do this, Megamind. I would give anything not to. If I stay, I will be hindering the plan that's supposed to take place: a woman you have never seen before is supposed to take my place of being your forever woman. I have been having this vision repeatedly; as if I'm being told to step aside."

Roxanne gently moved her hands from Megamind's abdomen to gently grip his arms; indicating for him to turn around. Feeling her warm hands against his arms, Megamind simultaneously turned around to meet Roxanne's eyes. He lifted his own hands to rest against her hips; his forehead resting against hers from slightly bending his head. If she was going to break up with him, he was going to allow her to do so properly.
Megamind captured Roxanne's lips one more time! One last time! And poured all of his emotions into the kiss!

Heavy Spring Rain pelted hard against the glass window the next morning! The grey, dreary sky matched Megamind's mood! His mouth was pulled down at the corners and his eyes stung from forming tears! He watched Roxanne load the last of her stuff into the van.

If there was anything he could give, Megamind would give it to stop Roxanne from leaving! He never dreamed of this day coming! And he didn't want this! He wanted to go down to the sidewalk and do whatever it took to keep the woman he loved in his life! But he didn't! Instead, Megamind stayed rooted to where he stood! He wasn't the kind of man to force someone to stay — alien or human, it didn't matter!

Since he became Metro City's Defender, Megamind was the man who respected wishes of others now. Roxanne was the woman who did things with a very good reason.

Exhaustion swept through his body like a strong windstorm! Megamind didn't sleep a wink last night! He hurt too much! Instead, he had laid awake and listened to the rain pelt against the window of his room! The pelting rain matched the growing spider web cracks of his hurt heart; in sync with matching rhythm.

Anger clutched his heart, sinking its claws into the organ painfully beating against his chest! Exhaustion took all of the wind out of his sails, and Megamind leaned against the window to support himself so he wouldn't fall to the floor! The muscles in his back shuddered and slightly twitched from a gentle touch to his cape less back. He turned around when he recognized the tender touch as Roxanne's.

Gently sliding her hand up to cup the side of his face, Roxanne gently caressed her thumb against Megamind's cheek. A sad smile pulled at her mouth while the man she loved pressed the side of his face into the palm of her hand! He gently clutched the back of her hand with a gloveless hand; kissing the palm of her hand.

Slowly releasing his hold on Roxanne's hand, Megamind closed the remaining distance between them and captured her mouth one last time! He didn't want to let her go! Megamind knew once he let Roxanne go, she would be walking out of his life forever! Eventually he sank in the chair behind the desk and wept bitterly once the door shut behind her after an hour of hugging! And he stayed in that chair after nightfall!
