Seven Giving A Push

Roxanne's POV
After another half hour of arguing with Teryn, I decided to go to talk to Megamind just to make sure he knew why I was leaving. Teryn had a point, he may not have heard me when I told him why I was leaving due to having a history of being treated horribly by kids when he was in school. That resulted in him becoming Metro City's Villain.

After a quick drive through the city, I abruptly put on the brakes and threw my car into park outside City Hall! I knew Teryn didn't care for my notion regarding Megamind's future woman. As far as she was concerned, Megamind's future was with me! But it wasn't! His future was with Teryn. Is future lies with Teryn. But Teryn still put up a fight due to her family history. I had tried telling her Megamind would understand, since she and him were the same in a way. But Teryn wouldn't have it. So there was only one thing left to do: tell the blue alien about it and try and get him to make the move, since Teryn wouldn't.

Climbing out of the van, I ascended the stairs up to the front doors of the Metro City Hall and threw the doors open and stormed into the living room to find Megamind and Minion perched on the couch. Minion flipped through the channels. But he must have sensed something, because his eyes drifted from the tv and over to land on me. "Ms Ritchi?" His fish eyes averted to Megamind then back to me and Megamind followed his loyal fish's line of sight to lock his eyes on me. "Ms Ritchi?"

I watched Megamind's face suddenly grow dark. Many emotions danced across the depths of his eyes. Hurt. Confusion. Longing. Anger. Joy. Sadness. Shock. Standing, the blue alien moved to me. "Why are you here?" His voice was clipped. "What do you want? A goodbye hug? Sorry, but you and I are done, as I recall."

"I'm here to talk, Megamind."

"Talk?" His voice was mocking and full of bitterness. "I think you and I have done plenty of talking already, Ms Ritchi."

"Megamind, please? I'm doing this for Teryn." I notice the alien's eyes soften at the mention of the other woman. "Teryn told me about your guys conversation today and how she did everything she could to keep you from falling into depression." I held up a hand to stop the blue alien when he opened his mouth to snap at me. "She also told me how hurt and angry you are because you think I'm leaving you for a job in a different city. She pleaded with me to at least clear the air with you first; so you understand exactly why I'm leaving."

"Fine, Ms Ritchi." Megamind hissed. "By all means, clear the air."

I gave Megamind a sad smile. "I'm not leaving you for a different job, Megamind. I'm leaving because I have seen your future woman, and she isn't me. Your future woman is someone else in Metro City. I have seen her. If I stay, I will just be in the way of you and your future woman. The job just happened to fall in my lap after I saw your future woman."

"Uh-huh." Megamind called my statement a bluff. "And who exactly is my future woman, Ms Ritchi?" His tone was full of disbelief due to the hurt he was feeling. I honestly couldn't blame him. I would feel the same way, too, if I was given the same news I just gave him.

"Teryn." I watched Megamind's eyebrows raise to his forehead. "Teryn is the kind of woman who believes a man's heart should be rescued first before a woman's. In this case, she rescued your heart first, Megamind. Now her heart is going to need rescuing. Teryn is your forever woman, Megamind and she needs you." I confirmed. "She needs you — and will continue to need you because her past is going to catch up to her and she won't be able to escape."

Tilting his head due to still not believing me, Megamind's voice was inquisitive. "And why isn't Teryn with you, Ms Ritchi?"

"If Teryn is my future woman, why isn't she here telling me the news herself?"

"Because she is fighting the fact that she is your future woman and has been trying to get me to come back to you." I watched surprise fill those green orbs of his. "She is fighting the truth because she is the same as you, in a way, but with a more complicated past. She wants us to get back together because she thinks you deserve a woman who will be a lot easier to be with than her — despite how hard I try and get her to see reason; to understand you wouldn't treat her any differently. But she is fighting due to fear."

"Why is she fighting?"

I decided to give a small backstory. "When I first met Teryn, it was during the time you were a villain — and at the time Metro Man faked his death. After you became Metro City's Defender, Teryn tried to make a normal life for herself, but she was waiting for the other shoe to drop. She only ever felt like she had a normal life when we talked about boys and having girls' day or when she was working.

Fear always plagues her. Whenever I tried bringing up her family, Teryn would shut down, or switch topics. I don't know specifics — she never gave me specifics. But I have a bad feeling her fears have something to do with her family. When I told Teryn I was leaving, she panicked and begged me to stay; telling me she only feels safe with me around. But I told her I couldn't, and I told her why. She won't listen though. Before I came here, Teryn fought me tooth and nail — in a sense, to try and convince me to get back together with you. But I told her she is your future woman and if I stay, I would just be getting in the way."

"Ms Ritchi?" Megamind said after a brief pause. There was curiosity in his voice when he asked his next question. "Did you send Teryn to comfort me and help me this morning?" I paused for a brief moment. I couldn't blame him for asking that question. He was hurting, and wasn't sure which way was up and which way was down. "No. Teryn did that all on her own."

Megamind's POV

I hummed at Ms Ritchi's confession. So my story so far: Roxanne and I broke up the previous night, I met a woman I have never seen before — who ends up knowing me, apparently; however, spends the whole day with me to help me heal from mine and Roxanne's breakup, but turns out to be my forever woman but tried to get Roxanne and I back together — only feeling safe with Roxanne and I being together due to her mysterious past.

Ms Ritchi's eyes are looking at me expectantly when I meet her eyes again. I had been in deep thought, my ears hasn't heard whatever the woman said. "Did you say something?"

"I said Teryn helped you because she loves to help people. That's the only way she can get her problems to go away. Megamind, Teryn was once like you: a villain. She has walked a few miles in your shoes. Teryn is the kind of woman who believes a man's heart should be rescued first before a woman's. In this case, she rescued your heart first, Megamind. Now her heart is going to need rescuing. Teryn is your forever woman, Megamind and she needs you." I confirmed. "She needs you — and will continue to need you because her past is going to catch up to her and she won't be able to escape.""

My eyebrows shot up and my eyes widened. "Teryn was like me?" Ms Ritchi gives a nod. "I don't know what exactly happened, but her reasons are different from yours."

I quizzically narrowed my eyes. "How do you know that?" A smile crossed the reporter's mouth. "Teryn was my roommate back at my old apartment in Metro City. I asked her questions to get to know her."

Roxanne sighed. "Megamind, Teryn needs you," she informed me. "She may think she doesn't, but she does. She needs you with her. She's at my former apartment. Go to her, Megamind. Go to Teryn."

Going to Teryn was exactly what I did. After awkwardly hugging Roxanne goodbye, I quickly changed into my suit and cape; holstering my dehydration gun, then after packing a bag, I mounted my bike and shot out of the garage, I sped down the streets through the city to go to the woman who helped my broken heart begin healing!
