I stepped into the room of Von-Trapps to find myself at an awkward disposition. They didn't know I hadn't come here with Troy. They didn't know that he didn't love me no more.

Anyway, they welcomed me warmly and gestured to the piano. They never looked concerned for me though, which surprised me and hurt me at the same time... But then again they might not know what to say. Oh everyone knows what to say! It's just a simple - My hands were flailing around like a mad man and they were all staring at me. Right of them, too. I went to take my seat at the piano.

Ring-ring. Ring-ring. Ring - ring.  RINGGGGG!! The phone screeched.

"Miss Montez, it's for you." I grabbed it with insent.

"Gab, I'm coming to Austria, we're singing. I've realised something." It was him.

"Oh, well," I huffed, "Why can't you just say it over the phone?"

"Because I can't." And with that, the line went dead.

   ~ Three Hours Later ~

The party was in full swing and I was comparing Austrian parties to the ones we have back home. I loved the sophistication and cheerful atmosphere here. I guess the hills really are alive here.

The ladies looked gorgeous and the men looked so handsome and dashing. I couldn't help looking at Maria and the Captain together and thinking how perfect they looked together. I wish I had that.

Is it true that everyone finds love in the end? Do they?

"Do they?" My thoughts were resonating and I could hear my mumbled speech quietly echoing. Hold on. Echoing? Oh God. I was stood behind the microphone, about to sing, but I had launched into daydreaming. How typical of me. I sighed and picked up the microphone. Better get this over with! "Ladies and gentlemen. It's an honour to sing for you all tonight. I hope that you -" The door clicked.

"Gab!" As if someone had just confessed to something terrible, the room hung in a horrible, tense silence. He stood there. Soaking wet, his feet stuck to the mansion's floor like glue. My eyes must have popped out of my head because when he looked at me again, he giggled like a child.

Endless fumbling ensued and then he raised a glass. "To Gabriella Montez and to the Von Trapps. Let us never forget each other. I invite the Von Trapps to gather around the piano and sing with us, if they would." A light chuckle rung around the room. I laughed. He was cute. I missed him.. Even though I wouldn't say it to his face.

"Yes." Georg Von Trapp raised his glass. "To the music."

"To the music!" Everyone chorused.

I came down from the stage and to the piano where Troy, Maria, Georg, Marta, Gretl, Kurt, Liesl, Brigitta, Louisa and Fredrich all were stood. Troy stepped back and put his arm around me.

"To the music, which brings us closer together, always."

And that memory stayed with me forever.
