Chapter 2

I Didn’t Mean It

Amanda’s POV

Hello! Sorry for the drama earlier. Masanay na kayo kasi ganyan kaming dalawa ni Dan since we’ve become best friends when we were still in our second year high. By the way, I’m Amanda Jane Cristobal Diaz. 17, Second year college at Eastern Christian University. September 16 ang birthday. Taking up BSN. Yeah, you read it right. Sa amin ni Dan, ako ang GC(grade conscious). Not that I’m smart though. I just don’t wanna disappoint my parents from expecting too much from me. Sucks right? I mean yung parents mo having high expectations. I just can’t live without those. Actually I can. I just can’t get rid of those. On a lighter note, I really don’t exert too much effort on being GC because I manage my time naman on studying and having fun with friends. And when I say studying, pure academic stuffs lang talaga. I try to focus within those hours of dating with books and notes. We’re not mayaman. May kaya, pwede pa. I have enough of what I need and want. I’m an only child. My mom’s a business woman. We have a mini grocery store katabi ng bahay namin. My dad’s a taxi driver naman. Pag coding naman siya, he helps my mom in managing the store. Pag weekend naman, tumutulong din ako. Oh diba, happy family? Hehe. Btw, you can call me Mandy, or Mands as what my best friend calls me. Lovelife? I had a boyfriend when I was a senior high. Thomas Quinton or Tom to his friends. We lasted for almost  2 years din. Our relationship was an open book or they thought it was. They also thought it was a mutual decision to part ways.  Bago ko pa siya masaktan, I decided to end it. And I was thankful that he agreed on it. I couldn’t afford to lose him because of my stupidity. If it’s really us, it’s us. After what happened, we were still happy and we were friends or at least I think we were.

Pagkatapos ng conversation namin ni Dan about Chuck sa student’s lounge, we stalked him na nga. Charles dela Vega Funtilla or Chuck sa mga friends niya. I call him Charles when Dani’s around. Civil Eng ang course so we had to go pa sa building  ng mga eng students which as far as I know, 4 buildings and a field away pa from my building and Dan’s building. Mabilis naman kaming naglakad so may mga 11 minutes pa kaming stalking time. We saw him finally. I tightly closed my eyes for a moment. Bakit pa ko nagpunta dito. Stupid me. Sht.

“Shet! Ba’t naman ganyan yang taong yan? Kita mo, nakatayo lang yan ha! May kausap lang! Pero ganun pa rin. Gwapo pa rin! Hindi nabawasan. Nadagdagan pa nga ata eh! Nako Mands, tell me, maganda na ba ako? Yung buhok ko, hindi ba bumuhaghag? Yung lips ko? Yung damit ko? Okay ba?”

I kept my cool and smiled at her. “Hmm, okay naman. Pakibawasan lang yang pula ng lips mo Dan, agaw-pansin eh.”

“Ano ka ba! Yan nga ang purpose nyan eh.” Sabay pout pa.

“Sabi ko nga. Hehe. So, what are you gonna do?”  I asked.

“Kasi gusto kong makabangga rin siya. Akin na nga yang mga libro mo.” Then dinagdag niya yung mga libro ko sa hawak niyang libro. “Tapos, para pulutin nya rin yung mga dala ko. Tapos magpapasalamat din ako. Tapos sasabihin niyang ‘you’re welcome’. Diba, ang sweet?! J”

I shook my head. “Haha! Baliw ka na talaga. Tara na nga.”

“Yeah, baby!”

Habang naglalakad kami, I felt him staring at me and when I looked at him, he turned his attention to his phone. Well anyway, forget it. Malapit na kami sa kanya.  After a few moments,  the unexpected happened.

“Anak ng!” Charles exclaimed. Pano ba naman, yung hawak nyang Zagu drink, natapon sa uniform niya.

“Oh my God! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to bump into you. I’ll pay na lang for your drink.” Dan explained.

“It’s not that bullsh.t. It’s my polo! Sh.t!” Sabi ni Chuck kay Dan. What the hell?! I fought the urge to walk away and kept my cool. I had to defend my best friend.

“Look, Dani said she’s sorry. And I am too. You don’t have to curse you know. Papalitan na lang namin yang polo mo.” At may naalala akong jacket ni Jared sa bag ko. “Here, ito muna suotin mo. Sa susunod, tumingin ka na sa dinadaanan mo para hindi ka na uli makabangga. And one more thing, my friend’s not a sh.t.” With that, pinulot ko na yung mga natitirang libro at hinila na si Dan na in shock. The nerve of that guy! Hindi na nagbago!
