"One latte please,"

"Anything else?"

"No,"

To sense her bad mood, Elif instantly came upon the realization that something was wrong with her friend.

"You left early."

Sonia sounded unhappy.

"I get it, we need to talk. Go and sit down and I'll be right there with your coffee."

Nodding at her, Sonia moved away from the counter and went to sit in her usual spot. The corner table facing the window was where she preferred to sit and have her food quietly.

Her eyes landed on a table where a young couple was sitting as she was watching the outside world via the window while she waited for her friend. She noticed the relationship between them and her lips began to curve, finding them adorable.

Her gaze was glued to them, and she couldn't look away. Upon noticing the boy feeding his girlfriend lovingly she had to remove her gaze as it began to turn teary.

"Hey? You okay?"

Minutes later Elif approached her.

"I am."

Elif frowned at her before sitting down in front of her.

"Here is your drink and a croissant, your favorite."

"Thanks, I hope there won't be a problem."

"Don't worry there are a few customers. The others will take care of them."

Sonia gave her a slight nod before asking her, "Why did you leave early? I was searching for you everywhere. Your phone is off too."

"Yeah," Elif breathed before lowering her face, "I just didn't want to talk to anyone."

"Is everything alright?"

As Sonia asked her, her gaze briefly fell on the couple the second time but she was quick to turn away. Elif frowned as she followed Sonia's gaze.

"Do you know them?"

"I don't, so what's wrong?"

"You keep looking at them."

Sonia rolled her eyes before her lips formed into a pout.

"I wish I had someone who would feed me like that."

A small chuckle left Elif's mouth.

"Are you kidding me? Half of the guys from our university are in love with you but you are too stubborn. Apparently, they aren't your type. Now tell me what is wrong?"

"Alright, you got me it's just I...it reminded me of my Dad. He used to feed me like that when I was little."

She exhaled loudly whilst trying not to sob.

"I am so sorry."

Elif held her hand.

"I wish I had more time with him. He left me too early don't you think?"

"Hmmm,"

A silence followed between them as Sonia began to drink while gazing out of the window. Her eyes were glossy while Elif was submerged in her own thoughts.

"Sonia?"

"Elif?"

The two girls looked at each other.

"There is something I have to tell you."

"I am listening."

"My older sister is getting married."
