When I went back to the hotel room, River was already there and had just gotten out of the shower. A towel wrapped around his waist as his muscular abdomen and chest were left exposed. Swimming had done wonders to his body, something I know he was proud of and how far along he's come in his competitions.
"Oh, there you are," River says with a smile growing on his face, rubbing a towel through his hair. "I thought you were going to stay out longer?"
"I was, but I just couldn't really concentrate," I say, setting my bag down onto the bed and then kicking my sandals off. "I'll just try again tomorrow morning."
"We have that hike tomorrow," he points out.
"Oh, shoot. You're right," I say with a groan. "Who's going again?"
"I think Austin mentioned that he and Maxine were joining us. The others are going snorkeling," he says, putting a shirt over his bare chest.
"I hope it won't be too hot. I was already cooking at the beach."
"Yeah you look like you got a bit of a tan on you now," he says with a chuckle.
I looked down at my arms and noticed that a slight farmer's tan was beginning to take place. I sigh, "Great now it's going to look weird when I put the dress on."
"Have you eaten?" He asks.
"No, I got distracted with something else." Flashes of Vincent down at the pool appear in my mind and I have to shake my head to focus on what River is saying.
"Have you run into Vincent?" He asks.
"Uh, I went down to the pool to get some quiet time, but that girl he was with was there. So I just left," I say. It wasn't entirely a lie, but I couldn't raise any more questions.
He hums. "We should check out the buffet. The guys want to meet up," he says.
I nod. "Sure, let me just shower and get ready," I say with a small smile.

River and I walk hand to hand down to the outdoor buffet just outside the hotel's outdoor area. Their outdoor dining had a great view of the ocean and just outside of the gate, led a trail straight to the beach.
"You know if we didn't have to go back to school, I could totally see us living here," River says, taking in the sounds of waves crashing.
"It is pretty," I agree, "Just us and the beach."
River smiles and we walk towards the line behind some guests.
"Charlotte!" I hear a familiar voice call out.
I turn my head and a dark haired girl with green eyes is making her way towards me. "Julie? Holy shit, it's been so long."
Julie wraps her arms around me and I can smell her sweet perfume.
