I woke up later than I expected I would, and eagerly stumbled out of bed as consciousness hit me — eager to know if any news had emerged about the tracker and his whereabouts.

When I found Alice in the living room — speaking quietly between Jasper and Willow — and inquired of anything new they may have heard from Carlisle or the others, my hopes were quickly let down when she revealed that they hadn't heard anything regarding James.

Aside from that, Edward and the others were supposed to arrive in Phoenix by the end of the day, and all we could do was wait around until then.

The majority of the day was spent in the hotel room on the couch either watching the television or unenthusiastically playing a few board games the hotel provided in one of the drawers in the living room — though it was hard to find any amusement from that from the weight of the affair we were in.

I did scroll through my laptop on Myspace for a bit as well while a lengthy action movie played in the background on the TV — action was not a genre I favored, though the hotel TV had a limited number of channels to watch, and that was the only option that was remotely attention-grabbing and distracting.

Once I grew bored of scrolling through my Myspace feed, I turned my attention to the movie, shutting my eyes at any scenes that included gory violence, blood splattering, or anything else that was too much for my eyes to watch — likely making myself look like a child in front of the others.

I hadn't even realized I accidentally drifted off during the movie until I was awoken abruptly by another loud, booming action scene from the film. I had to catch my breath after jolting awake on the couch, prompting Alice who was still close by my side to cover her mouth to hide her laugh, while I playfully rolled my eyes back at her.

After waking up, and learning I had slept for a good few hours, Bella was reading a book she had brought with her that we were currently reading in English — Jane Eyre — and Jasper and Willow were sitting across from each other at a smaller table by the dining area playing checkers together while speaking quietly amongst themselves, too fast for me to read.

Soon after the movie ended, Alice let us know that we'd be checking out of the hotel around five, which is when Edward and the rest planned to be here to get Bella to take her elsewhere.

It was nearing four when Bella and I decided to pack our things early and make sure we had our belongings together so we didn't have to rush later to pack.

While we did that, Alice notified me that she was taking a quick shower and that Jasper and Willow left to go shopping to buy a few more things for the road before we had to leave in an hour.

Bella and I stayed in my room talking while I finished packing, as she was already finished.

In the middle of our discussion, her phone began ringing abruptly. She excused herself and rushed out of the room to answer it away from me, figuring it was likely her worried mother Renee wondering where she went and why she had left Forks.
