"Aww! You liked him. Didn't you!" Mei teased, smirking slightly as she shuffled closer to the darker simian, the man quickly rolling his eyes and pushing away the other so as to ignore the question. However, he knew that the children were not going to let him off that easily, this was THE Monkie Kid and Dragon Horse Girl. It would be a mercy if they forgot that easily.
"Oh come on, I can see it on your face, you liked him! Back me up here MK!" Mei whined, putting a hand to her forehead in feigned distress like some in danger damsel, however, she received a slightly less enthused answer.
"You were smiling every time you spoke about him," MK admitted, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, however, Macaque could tell he wanted to say more. He urged the kid to talk more, his tail wagging lazily.
"Monkey King seems... So different from what he is now. He sounded so cheeky and interesting! Now he seems to be more serious and tense, but he sounded so happy in these stories, so relaxed... It's interesting," MK observed, a small smile on his face.
"Well... Wukong was more relaxed back then but it also made him more reckless. I remember a time I had to talk to Azure about his actions because I was worried..."
"Hey, Azure, how are ya, bud?" Macaque asked softly, rising from the lion's shadow as he watched the other scramble to hide something, seemingly spooked by his sudden appearance. He had to admit his presence was a bit... Frightening, however, he took pride in that fact, he found it wildly amusing that such a large creature could still spook from such a small simian's presence. "What are you doing?"
"Ah, Macaque; I'm sorry you startled me friend, I was just writing a few updates to our battle plans, I'm not quite sold on them just yet. How are you, brother? I never see you out in the light very often," the feline answered back truthfully, putting his scroll and quill down as he turned to face the other.
"I... Actually needed to talk to you," Macaque admitted, sighing heavily. "It's about Wukong; I know we really don't see eye to eye and we've had our fights but I know you care about him too. I'm worried about him, Azure."
"I understand where you are coming from," the lion sighed, leaning back on the wall as he crossed his arms, his eyes darting to the nearing sunset. The simian could tell the other was in contemplation, thinking hard about this, however, he also knew not to rush the other, or else it would be a half-hearted answer no matter what.
"While Wukong is a great fighter and leader, I fear he is too erratic and irrational to lead us into battle; in fact, I'm not sure if I could put him on the battlefield at all," Azure started, shaking his head in annoyance. "He is determined and he has a fierce personality, however, he is also irrational; I usually fear that if not supervised he will go into a sort of rage and lose his sense of self. He's an amazing creature and an even better friend, however, I know what he can also be... A danger."
"Yeah..." Macaque sighed, dipping into the shadows before finding a comfortable spot himself to sit down and enjoy the quiet company of the courageous blue lion. Of course, he wouldn't have preferred this most days, however, today felt comfortable. Right. He was mostly relieved that someone else agreed with his thoughts and theories, worrying he might have been going a tad insane worrying about his fellow primate.
"Wukong is amazing, I don't need to sing his praises because he does that enough himself... But I worry about him a lot. He's starting to act more power hungry and stressed, he's starting to act like he's a loose cannon. I want to trust him and put my faith in him for the revolution but the way he's going? He's not going to make it to the revolution without doing something utterly stupid," the simian sighed.
"In Wukong fashion he will find a way to make a disaster out of nothing," Azure huffed with a small, fond smile. While he didn't like to think of himself as a cold person he wasn't exactly sentimental either. But he was caring, and he did find the monkey's antics to be quite amusing most days.
