* Knock knock*
The knocking woke Kit up. When she took off her blanket, she heard another knock.
"I'll be there in a sec!" Kit yelled. She quickly went to the bathroom and brushed her hair and teeth. When she was done, she opened the front door.
"Hellooo." Said Zurui.
"Why are you here-" She looked at the clock on her wall. "- It's 6 in the morning."
Zurui winked. "Well, assassins have to wake up early, too! Now, have you eaten anything?"
Kit groaned. "I just woke up." She said.
Zurui smiled. "Well then, get ready. We're going to the cafe." He let himself in. Kit sighed and went to get some clothes. While she was changing, she heard a loud noise from her kitchen. When she opened the bathroom door, she saw pieces of a mug on the floor. She looked at Zurui and saw that he had a guilty look on his face.
Kit raised an eyebrow. "Do you mind explaining?"
"Well, uh. I sat down on the counter and my tail knocked the mug off the counter..." He chuckled nervously.
Kit looked down at the mug. "Whatever, it's not like it was my favorite mug. I'll pick it up when we come back."
Zurui jumped off the counter. "Alright!" He held out his hand towards Kit. "Shall we?" Kit held Zurui's hand. It felt... warm and.. nice...
"Hold on tight!" Yelled Zurui. Kit blinked, and they were at the cafe.
"What the- did we teleport?" Asked Kit. She felt dizzy for some reason.
Zurui let go of her hand and approached the door. "Yeah, we did. I can only teleport a few times a day, though. Oh, and you may feel dizzy... and you might also puke." Said Zurui cheerfully. He was about to open the door, but Kit yanked his shirt.
"You can't go in looking like that." Said Kit. She was referring to his ears and tail.
Zurui put his hand on her shoulder. "Ah, yes. You're right. Thank you for telling me." He snapped his fingers and *poof!* His ears and tail disappeared. "Alright. Let's eat." But Kit quickly yanked his shirt again.
"Your markings." She said. Zurui snapped his fingers again and his markings disappeared.
"Can we go in now?" He asked. Kit gave him a nod. Zurui held the door open for Kit, and they went inside. When they entered, Alexander greeted Kit.
"Hey!" He looked at Zurui. "Who's this? Have you finally made a new friend?" He asked.
"Alexander, this is-"
"-I'm Levi." Said Zurui. He shaked Alexander's hand.
"Cool! Could I get you guys something?" Asked Alexander.
"I'll have some blueberry pancakes and a latte." Said Zurui.
"I'll get a french toast and apple juice." Said Kit.
"Alright then!" Alexander went behind the counter. "That'll be-" he tapped the register a few times. "-$16.57"
"Ok-" Kit reached into her bag. She was about to pay, but Zurui beat her to it.
"I'll pay." He gave Alexander some cash. "Keep the change." He then led Kit to a table far in the corner.
"You didn't have to pay." Kit said.
"Oh, don't worry, it's my pleasure." Replied Zurui. Kit was about to move the chair so she could sit down, but Zurui did it for her. When he finished moving the chair back towards the table, he sat down on his side of the table.
Kit was surprised. She never thought a demon could be so nice, especially one that almost killed her. "Thank you." She said.
"No worries." He smiled at her. He put his hands together and rested his head on them.
"So, why did you change your name?" Asked Kit.
"Oh, just to have some fun. Did you like the name I picked? It's a name I heard from a television that was playing in a house I- uhm-" he lowered his voice. "-broke in." Said Zurui.
"Why did you break in-" Kit saw Alexander appear with the drinks, so she fell silent.
Alexander set down the drinks on the table. "The blueberry pancakes and french toast will be ready soon!" He walked back to the counter.
Kit took a sip of her apple juice. "Oh right, is there like a contract I gotta sign or something?" Zurui gave her a face that told her he didn't understand what she was talking about. "The deal. I'm talking about the deal."
"OOOH! Well, it's not really a contract." He lowered his voice again and leaned towards Kit. "You don't mind getting a tattoo, right?"
Kit widened her eyes. "Why are you asking me tha-" She saw Alexander appear again. He put down the blueberry pancakes and the french toast on the table.
"Enjoy!" He walked away.
Kit grabbed a fork and a knife. She looked at Zurui and saw that he was very excited. In a matter of seconds, he ate all of the pancakes. "You sure love pancakes, don't you?"
Zurui was cleaning his mouth with a napkin. "Actually, I love anything with blueberries." He set the napkin down. "Now, let's get to business. As I was saying earlier, it's not really a contract. It's more of a-" he hesitated "-binding."
Kit swallowed a bit of french toast she was eating. "A binding? What do you mean?"
"Well.." He fell silent for a bit. "To make it less complicated, let's just do a handshake."
Kit set her fork down. "Um, ok." Both of them had finished their breakfast. Kit was about to stand up, but Zurui was quick to help her. -Why is he being so nice?- Kit asked herself.
. . .
They arrived at Kit's apartment. Zurui tried to open the door for Kit, but it was locked. Kit got her keys from her bag and unlocked the door. Zurui looked embarrassed. They went inside.
"Alright-" he held out his hand "- when you shake my hand, you will say,'I shall aid Zurui Kitsune in his assassinations until he reaches his goal.' Got it?" Kit nodded. She grabbed and shook Zurui's hand.
"I shall aid Zurui Kitsune in his assassinations until he reaches his goal." She let go of his hand. All of a sudden, she felt her right wrist burn. When she looked at it, she saw a tattoo forming on her wrist. She started to panick. "Wait- is this why you asked about a tattoo!?"
Zurui looked at Kit nervously. "Yes, yes. Don't freak out, it's only temporary! It'll disappear when the binding is over!"
Kit sighed. "Great. When I see my mom, she's gonna bombard me with questions." She took off her scarf and sat down on the couch. She took a deep breath. "When's the first mission?" She asked.
"I'll let you know soon enough. Also, you forgot about the mug-" Kit gave Zurui a furious look. "-Y'know what, I'll pick it up for you."
