Chapter 9

You rolled your eyes when you saw the resident. Sangwook looked up to him sending him a light glare. Sangwook fixed his posture before the resident spoke. "I deserved to get hit. I'm very sorry." the resident apologized before walking away.

You and Sangwook were both shocked he actually came up to you two and apologized for his behavior. What you didn't expect was for Sangwook to start speaking "Me too. I'm sorry for hitting you" You were glad the two apologized to each other.

You failed to notice that Jae-heon was in the room making you flinch when he spoke "You have better manners now" Sangwook lightly smiled at you "You going?" Sangwook asked.

Jae-heon looked at the small shot in front of him "I should finish this. I'm getting better" What followed in the room was silence before Jae-heon eventually stood up and left, leaving you and Sangwook alone.

Suddenly Eun-yoo came in and was looking super worried. This made you walk over to her "What's wrong Eun-yoo?" she was looking distressed "It's Ji-su" These words make your heart drop.

What's wrong with Ji-su? Is she okay? Is she safe? Is she alive? These thoughts made tears appear in your eyes.

You and Eun-yoo quickly went to where Ji-su was lying down on the bed. Eun-hyuk was checking on her. "How long have you been hurting?" Eun-hyuk calmly asked. You pushed everyone away and sat down next to Ji-su worried for your older sister.

Ji-su being the stubborn woman she is insisted she is fine which was obvious she wasn't. Eun-hyuk pushed his hand into her side making her yelp in pain. You quickly slapped his shoulder looking at him as if he was crazy.

Eun-hyuk spoke again "I'm going to move my hand, okay?" is he for real? He moved his hand making Ji-su yelp in pain again. You again hit his arm he looked at you then at everyone else "I think it's appendicitis." appen what?

You didn't know what Eun-hyuk was talking about "Appendicitis?" Ji-su asked. "Your appendix" Eun-hyuk replied. "How does he know?" a resident asked. "He should know. We're poor, but he still got into med school." Eun-yoo explained.

You stood up and walked to Eun-yoo leaning on her scared for Ji-su. You were deep in thought so you didn't hear what the residents were talking about. Everyone soon left, but you stayed by Ji-su's side holding her hand.

Eun-hyuk came in a few moments later explaining the current situation "So I might die?" the thought of losing Ji-su made you tighten your grip on her hand and let out a quiet sob. "Yeah. There's a higher chance of dying than surviving. It's your call"

Ji-su thought for a second before humming "If I don't, I'm going to die anyway." you felt uneasy hearing their conversation. You were worrying about Ji-su like never before. You decided to leave Ji-su alone before her surgery so she could mentally prepare.

You exited the room tears in your eyes. You didn't hear what the residents were talking about but you heard Jae-heon say "I'll go" You didn't know what they were talking about. "Are you trying to die?" 

Sangwook entered and joined the conversation. You didn't care that the other residents were here. You ran straight to Sangwook hugging him tightly happy he was here. He put his arm around you and walked with you to Jaeheon and Eun-hyuk.

Sangwook spoke "You'll just be a burden in that state." you thought that Sangwook's sentence was a bit rude to Jae-heon. You sent an apologetic look to Jae-heon. "Okay. I'll go too" Yuri spoke. "No, you won't" Mr. Ahn spoke.

Yuri argued "There are dozens of different surgical tools. Unless you wanna bring back the whole hospital, you need someone who will get the right equipment." she explained. Mr.Ahn stood up but he didn't say anything. Eun-hyuk spoke again "Please, help us." then silence followed and Mr. Ahn sat down

-Time skip-

Everything for the surgery was almost prepared. Because Mr. Ahn argued so much you went instead of Yuri. After exiting the building and driving for a few seconds the car got flipped. The only thing besides the loud ringing in your ear was the loud thuds or loud footsteps.

Your face was bloody. Your lip was busted, you had a small nosebleed, and your forehead had a big cut on it. You felt someone shaking you. You were barely conscious, but you heard Sangwook's voice. He managed to get you out of the car.

You felt him carrying you somewhere. You then felt and heard a loud explosion.

You woke up in the security office. You saw Sangwook sitting on the bed with you. He was wrapping his injured hand. You sat up and Sangwook spoke. "I'm glad you're alive" You moved so you could hug Sangwook "Thank you for saving me."

Sangwook got used to you hugging him so he didn't mind. He hugged you back. You two pulled away and looked into each other's eyes. You both leaned in and kissed. The kiss was short but passionate.

You both pulled away and you leaned your head on Sangwook's shoulder. "Y/n what are we?" you didn't expect him to ask you this but you replied anyway "I don't know. What do you want us to be?" you asked "A couple" you blushed madly at his words.

You smiled and replied "That sounds nice" he smiled at you putting his arm around you and leaning on the wall behind him. Soon Sangwook stood up and walked to the table taking some cigarettes. He lit himself one. You didn't mind him smoking as long as he wasn't forcing you to smoke you were fine with it.

Sangwook spoke "Get some rest you were more injured than me." you decided to not argue with Sangwook so you laid down and heard him exit the room. You were wondering where he went.

You woke up sometime later. You saw you slept for the whole night. It was 6 am. You stood up and stretched feeling pain in your ankle. You remembered you got stabbed in your left ankle during the car accident.

You limped to the lobby to see what everyone was up to. You noticed that Sangwook was nowhere to be found. You started worrying. You went to Yuri and tapped her shoulder. "Hey, have you seen Sangwook anywhere?"

She turned around and gave you a small smile "He went to the roof with Hyun-soo to take down the S.O.S banner." You were confused about why and you were going to ask more questions but the elevator door opened.

The alarm went off. The security guard started stumbling in the lobby. Yuri pulled you as far away from the security guard as possible. The security guard had a working lawn mower which made him even scarier than he already looked.

Jae-heon then stepped in and blocked the security guard before he attacked a resident. He and the security guard fought until Jae-heon's arm very disturbingly was cut off. He now only had one arm and was bleeding severely.

Jae-heon looked at everyone one last time before leading the security guard into the elevator. Someone threw a Molotov at the elevator, lighting it on fire as the doors closed. You shared one last look with Jae-heon before the doors fully closed. You let out a small sob finally taking in what just happened. Jae-heon was dead.
