In her quarters, Rosalie is sitting at the foot of her bed, thinking back at what Sheppard had told her. It isn't has if she doesn't trust them, she does, but when it comes to a situation like the one they saw themselves in the day before, she is used to counting only on herself. To be able to trust someone else with her life isn't something that she is easily capable of doing, not after what she went through after trusting the wrong people.
A knock on her door pulls her out of her thoughts. When she opens it, she is met with a very upset Evan, as well as two Airmen guarding her door. She nods to the Airmen, receiving nods in return, before following Evan inside.
-"What were you thinking?" - Evan is pissed. - "You could've gotten yourself killed and then what?"
-"I know. But I owed it to them to try and rescue them. They all helped me, in one way or another, specially Chantria and Bassel. I had to."
-"Even if it costs you your life?"
-"If I die saving someone, then I'll die happy."
-"Have you stop to think what that would mean to those who care about you? What that would mean to me?"
Rosalie walks over to the small couch, sitting down, her shoulders slumped forward, her head in her hands.
-"I know. I still remember the night I almost... I remember the hurt in your eyes."
-"I just don't want to lose you, Rosie." - He lets out a breath as he seats down next to her on the couch.
-"I learned my lesson, trust me. I won't do it again."
-"You better not, because I don't know what I would do if I lost you."
-"Same."
Rosalie leans her head on his shoulder, feeling his arm wrap around hers and his hand softly rubbing her arm up and down. She missed this. She missed being with him like this, just the two of them, enjoying each other's company.
Rosalie looks up at him, taking in his profile, from the small amount of stubble that is growing, to the way his blue eyes catch the light coming in through her windows. She loves him, no matter how much she tries not to, she does and she wishes she could stay like this, forever.
Evan sensed she was looking at him and looked down. Looking into her big brown eyes, he could feel himself falling even further in love with her. He wished he could tell her, he wished she felt the same, but he knows she doesn't. Still, despite all that, he can't stop himself as he leans over and presses a light kiss on her lips.
Evan expects Rosie to pull away, to tell him that she can't because she's in love with someone else, but she doesn't. Instead, she kisses him back and pulls him closer to her. He isn't about to refuse. If this is the last time they are together, so be it, but he needs her, he needs to feel her close to him, specially after what happened.
The kiss started small, almost shy, but quickly turned into more, so much more. He loved exploring every inch of her body, hearing her calling out his name in pleasure, and the way she fits in his arms afterwards.
He knows this isn't gonna last forever, but while it does, he is going to hold her as close as he can and make sure she feels loved, and wanted, and needed. At least, while they are together.
